**STATEMENT**


1 TRAIN WILL BYPASS 168 TH  ST. STATION BEGINNING TOMORROW, SATURDAY, JANUARY 5

"I want to let constituents and riders know that beginning at midnight on Saturday, January 5, the 1 train will bypass 168th St. Station in Washington Heights for approximately one year while four new elevators are constructed.  I will be onsite at the 168th St. Station tomorrow, January 5, 2019, at 12:00PM (Noon) to monitor the additional bus service that will be provided to accommodate riders needing to access 157th St. Station to catch the 1 train. I have the commitment of the MTA that they will be actively observing the bus service so that it meets the needs of riders and also will have additional staff available to answer questions from the public.

MTA has stated that they will finish the construction around early 2020. I've requested that this reconstruction project finish on-time, and if possible, reduce the total duration of the project. Additionally, while the new automatic elevators will be able to accommodate a higher volume of subway riders, the elevators will not extend to the subway platform. I've asked the MTA to conduct a feasibility assessment on options to bring the 1-train platform to ADA compliance."

El TREN 1 NO PARARÁ EN ESTACIÓN DE CALLE 168 COMENZANDO MAÑANA, SABADO 5 DE ENERO 
 
"Quiero hacerles saber a los constituyentes y pasajeros que, a partir de la medianoche del sábado 5 de enero, el tren 1 no parará por la estación de la calle 168th St. en Washington Heights por aproximadamente un año mientras se completan cuatro nuevos ascensores. Estaré en la estación de la 168th St. mañana, sábado 5 de enero de 2019, a las 12:00 PM (mediodía) para supervisar el servicio de autobús adicional que se brindará a los pasajeros que necesiten acceder a la estación de la calle 157th St. para tomar el tren 1. Tengo el compromiso de la MTA de que estarán observando activamente el servicio de autobús para que cumpla con las necesidades de los pasajeros y también tendrán personal adicional disponible para responder a las preguntas del público.
 
La MTA ha declarado que finalizarán la construcción a principios del 2020. Solicité que este proyecto de reconstrucción finalice a tiempo y, si es posible, se reduzca la duración total del proyecto. Además, mientras que los nuevos ascensores automáticos podrán acomodar un mayor volumen de usuarios del metro, los ascensores no se extenderán a la plataforma del metro. Por lo cual, le he pedido al MTA que realice una evaluación de viabilidad sobre las opciones para que la plataforma del tren 1 cumpla con los requerimientos de la ADA."
