Make the Road New York Rejects Tillis-Lankford Bill ("Succeed Act")
NEW YORK (September 25th, 2017 )  – In response to Republican Senators' Tillis and Lankford's newly-introduced "Succeed" Act, which falls far short of the protections offered to immigrant youth by the DREAM Act, Antonio Alarcon, Youth Organizer at Make the Road New York, issued the following statement on behalf of the organization's 21,000 members:

"For immigrant youth, the problem and the solution are clear. The problem is that Donald Trump, with encouragement from certain extremist Republican leaders, acted to end DACA and rip away the futures of 800,000 immigrant youth and our families. The solution is the same as it has been for 16 years: the bi-partisan DREAM Act. We demand an end to attempts by Republicans in Congress to pretend to offer fake solutions like the 'Succeed' Act, which fall far short of what we need. We demand that Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell immediately allow for a vote on a clean DREAM Act, without trying to use us as bargaining chips for more money for out-of-control border control and immigration enforcement."
