STA Co-hosts Clean California Ribbon Cutting Events in Fairfield and Suisun City

On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, the STA co-hosted a two-part Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in the cities of Fairfield and Suisun City to celebrate their success in receiving Clean California grant funding from the Department of Transportation, Caltrans.

Caltrans’ Clean California Project is a statewide initiative to remove litter, create jobs, and beautify California with potential projects in all 58 counties. Nearly a third of the funds go directly to cities, counties, tribes, and transit agencies to clean local streets and public spaces.

This grant was used to enhance the visual appeal of the State Route 12 corridor along Fairfield and Suisun City through various landscaping efforts. These efforts can be seen by the new landscaping for the State Route 12 on/off ramps and oleanders in the medians of the highway.

This project helped repair damaged chain link fence panels from Marina Boulevard to Walters Road, replacing the existing chain link fence on the north side of State Route 12 between Marina Boulevard and Sunset Avenue with a wood/wire mesh fence.

STA Invites the Public to Take Comprehensive Transportation Plan Survey

The Solano Transportation Authority invites Solano County residents and commuters to participate in an important survey that will gather community input to identify needs, challenges, and potential transportation improvements.

The Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) is the primary long-range planning document for Solano County designed to create a safe, equitable, and sustainable multi-modal transportation system that meets the diverse mobility needs and sustainability goals of our communities. The plan will serve as a roadmap for the Solano Transportation Authority to guide transportation investments over the next 30 years, including active transportation (walking and biking), roadways and highways, public transit, equity, and land use.

A key element of updating the CTP is collaborating with members of the public to create a shared vision for a transportation system that is safe, equitable, sustainable, and meets the needs of Solano residents. Your input will play a crucial role in shaping transportation decisions in Solano County for the next 30 years.

To take the survey online, please scan the QR code with your phone camera or click the following link: https://sta.ca.gov/active_plans/solano-comprehensive-transportation-plan/

Survey participants may be eligible to receive a reward.

STA Hosts State Route 113 Corridor Kick-off Meeting

On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the STA hosted the State Route 113 (SR 113) Corridor Kick-off Meeting to mark the beginning of a collaborative effort to enhance safety, mobility, and infrastructure throughout the SR 113 corridor.

The kick-off meeting provided community leaders from the cities of Dixon, Vacaville, the County of Solano, Travis Air Force Base, and the Department of Transportation (Caltrans) an opportunity to contribute ideas and identify priorities for improving the SR 113 corridor.

State Route 113 serves as a key transportation route connecting Solano County to neighboring regions, Interstate 80, State Route 12, and Travis Air Force Base, and plays an important role in supporting commuter traffic and local economic development.

On Monday, April 14, 2025, Solano Community College, in partnership with Share Mobility and the Solano Transportation Authority, launched their intercampus vanpool pilot program, the Falcon Flyer.

At the April 2025 STA Board Meeting, the STA Board unanimously adopted to extend the Solano Mobility Express Vanpool Pilot program through June 2026.

Safe Routes to School Community Bike Fair

Families and students enjoyed a variety of engaging activities. The Safe Moves Bike Rodeo offered kids a chance to learn bicycle safety through interactive, hands-on education. Meanwhile, the popular Bike Blender gave participants the chance to pedal their way to a refreshing smoothie, combining fun and fitness. California Highway Patrol joined the event, assisting staff with no cost helmet fitting.

Solano County to Celebrate Bike to Wherever Days in May

STA invites Solano County to join the Bay Area in celebrating Bike to Wherever Days this May. Pledge to ride and sign up for the collective 30,000-mile Bay Area Bike Challenge celebrating 31 years of Bike to Work Day to win prizes. This year, Solano Mobility’s Employer Commuter Program is partnering with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), 511, and Amazon to feature:

  • Bay Area Bike Challenge Kick Off on May 1st
  • A Community Bike Ride in Vallejo on May 4th
  • Bike to School Day on May 7th
  • The 31st Annual Bike to Work Day on May 15th

The Bay Area Bike to Work Day (BTWD) began in 1994 as a celebration of bicycles as a fun and healthy way to get to work, as well as an opportunity for those who don’t usually bike commute to try it out. After 2020, as fewer people were biking to work during the pandemic, the event expanded into Bike to Wherever Days for the whole month of May, encouraging riders to choose their bicycle for more of their transportation needs. Now, Bay Area Bike to Wherever Days and Bike to Work Day reflect the new hybrid model of work and life. May is also a time to advocate for improved bicycle infrastructure and safety across the region.

During the month of May, no matter where you need to go, you’re encouraged to bike to run errands, visit friends and family, ride recreationally, and commute to work or school. Commit to riding by signing the Pledge and show off your pride by taking the Bay Area Bike Challenge. Be sure to come out to one of the events on Bay Area Bike to Work Day on Thursday, May 15th, to celebrate bicycling and to get your 2025 BTWD commemorative bag. Everyone on two wheels is welcome.
