11 Solano County Projects Awarded $8.8 Million in Safety Funds
Also on December 12, the California Department of Transportation released their list of approved projects for the Highway Safety Improvement Program. Six Solano County Cities in coordination with the STA were awarded a total of $8.8 million to fund eleven traffic safety projects in over a hundred locations throughout Solano County. The grant will be used to construct improvements to pedestrian crossings, upgrade guardrails, and enhance traffic crossings for motorists.
Ridership Grows on SF Bay Ferry between San Francisco and Vallejo
The San Francisco Bay Ferry reports ridership between San Francisco and Vallejo continues to grow. Over 98,205 riders rode the ferry from Vallejo to San Francisco during the month of October, with an increase of 1.33% over last month, over 10% increase the same month last year, and over 5% for the fiscal year. The Vallejo ferry is currently at 94% capacity and has the highest fare box (65%) retrieval compared to other terminals operated by the San Francisco Bay Ferry.
STA Annual Audit for Fiscal Year (FY) 2017-18
The auditing firm of Vavrinek, Trine, Day & Co., LLP has completed their independent audit of the STA’s Accounting and Financials for FY 2017-18. Their audit evaluation resulted in a clean audit for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2018. With the unqualified opinion of the FY 2017-18 annual audit and the third year issuance of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, STA is celebrating thirteen years of consecutive “clean” audits thanks to Susan Furtado, STA’s Accounting/Administrative Services Manager.
Draft 2019 Legislative Priorities and Platform Available for Comment
The STA Board has released the draft 2019 Legislative Platform for review. With the preservation of the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017 (SB1), STA’s main priorities in 2019 will be to move ahead with projects including the I-80/I-680/SR12 Interchange, the I-80 Express Lanes, the I-80 Westbound Truck Scales, and the SR37 & Fairgrounds Interchange. Written comments may be submitted prior to the Board meeting on February 13, 2019.
