Water Transit Feasibility Study Released The Solano Transportation Authority (STA) recently completed the Water Transit Feasibility Study to assess the viability of expanded service between multiple origins within Solano County and multiple destinations outside of the County. Not surprisingly, the greatest potential for expanded water transit service would result from increased frequency of the current service between Vallejo and San Francisco. Some limited potential for private water transit was also identified in several other locations.

Equity Chapter Outreach Event Summary The Draft Guiding Principles developed by the STA Equity Task Force was presented to the public during three Equity Chapter Workshops – in Suisun City, Vallejo, and for the first time ever, on STA’s Facebook Live page. Comments received from the three workshops will be used to further refine the Guiding Principles before they are adopted into the Equity Chapter of the STA’s Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP). The Guiding Principles will be present to the STA Board for approval at the October 9 th Board Meeting. Transportation Forum for the Communities and Neighborhoods of Vallejo In partnership with the City of Vallejo and Solano County Transit (SolTrans), STA will host a Transportation Forum for Communities and Neighborhoods of Vallejo at the Norman King Community Center in South Vallejo on Tuesday, July 30 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm . Based on input received from the public during the Forum, a Community Based Transportation Plan will be prepared. The Plan will set priorities and guide actions and investments to improve mobility for Vallejo residents who have been underrepresented in the past. STA Establishes SolHIP Partnership At the July 10 th meeting, the STA Board established the Solano Housing Investment Partnership (SolHIP) to provide technical assistance, planning resources, and assistance in the development of funding and implementation strategies for all seven Solano County cities and the County. STA staff has organized meetings with State agencies and the member agencies who have opted to join SolHIP to discuss strategies for meeting Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) targets, identify affordable housing sites within Priority Development Areas (PDAs), and coordinate transportation investments with housing production.

Save the Date – Fairfield Vacaville Hannigan Station Dedication On September 27 th , the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA), County of Solano, Cities of Fairfield and Vacaville, and the STA plan to celebrate the life, leadership, and vision of former California State Legislator and lifelong Solano County advocate, Tom Hannigan, with the dedication of the Fairfield Vacaville Hannigan Station. Additional details will follow in the coming weeks.

Solano County Transportation Project Updates

SR 12/SR 113 Roundabout Project Construction Update : Caltrans District 4 construction crews continue to make progress on the State Route (SR) 12/SR 113 Roundabout Project. This $4.6 million project is entirely funded by the State Highway Operations and Protection Program (SHOPP). Caltrans anticipates completing construction on schedule with the new project scheduled to be completed by late October 2019.

Fairgrounds Drive Bus Stop Construction: T he new Six Flags/North Vallejo bus stop has been completed and is being serviced by the new SolanoExpress Red Line. Future improvements include the addition of a bus shelter in Fall 2019. For more information, please visit SolanoExpress.com
