SCC Students Approve 10 Year Extension of Student Transit Fee

Last Month, the Associated Students of Solano College (ASSC) voted to extend the Student Transportation Fee for Transit for an additional ten years. This fee is part of their semester student fee and enables students with valid SCC IDs to ride for free within Solano County on the SolanoExpress Blue Line, Green Line, Yellow Line, Red Line (launching June 30), and local transit services provided by Fairfield and Suisun Transit (FAST), Solano County Transit (SolTrans) and Vacaville City Coach, connecting all three Solano Community College Campuses. SolanoExpress Launches New Red Line

Starting June 30, SolanoExpress riders will be able to take the newly formed Red Line, operated by Solano County Transit (SolTrans) from the Suisun City Amtrak Station all the way to the El Cerrito del Norte BART Station. Stops along the Red Line include Solano Town Center, Fairfield Transportation Center, Solano Community College, Six Flag Discovery Kingdom, and the Vallejo Transit Center, which connects to the San Francisco Bay Ferry. The Red Line combines the current Routes 80 and 85. On July 1, visit the Suisun City Amtrak Station, Curtola Park & Ride, Fairfield Transportation Center, and the Vallejo Transit Center to celebrate the new service and receive special SolanoExpress Red Line giveaways. Additional celebrations are being planned at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Solano Community College. For more information, please visit SolanoExpress.com

SR 37/Fairgrounds Bus Stop Construction Underway

The new Six Flags/North Vallejo bus stop is currently under construction and will be serviced by the new SolanoExpress Red Line, which is scheduled to begin on June 30. The Six Flags/North Vallejo bus stop will be in service during construction and is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2019. For more information, please visit SolanoExpress.com

SR 12/SR 113 Roundabout Project Construction Continues

Caltrans District 4 construction crews continue to make progress on the State Route (SR) 12/SR 113 Roundabout Project. This $4.6 million project is entirely funded by the State Highway Operations and Protection Program (SHOPP). Caltrans anticipates completing construction in late Fall 2019 and plans to celebrate with a
ribbon-cutting ceremony. 
Draft Equity Guiding Principles for Equity Chapter of Comprehensive Transportation Plan Released

The Guiding Principles drafted by the STA Equity Task Force will be presented to the public during three Equity Chapter Workshops – Wednesday, June 26 th between 6-8pm at Suisun City Hall; Thursday, June 27 th between 6-8pm at the Cal Maritime Anchor Center in Downtown Vallejo; and Saturday, June 29 th between 12-2pm on STA’s Facebook Live page. Comments received from the public will be used to further refine the Guiding Principles before they are adopted into the Equity Chapter of the STA’s Comprehensive Transportation Plan by the STA Board in October 2019. 2019 Solano County Pothole Report Published

STA recently completed the 2019 update to the Solano County Pothole Report in partnership with the STA Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and Project Delivery Working Group. This report highlights the status of local streets and roads in all seven cities and Solano County. Solano Housing Investment Program Established

STA continues communicating and coordinating with the seven cities and the County to review and make modifications to their Priority Conservation Area (PCA), Priority Development Areas (PDAs), and establish new Priority Production Areas (PPAs), which are focused on manufacturing jobs. As part of STA’s OWP, the STA Board approved the establishment of the Solano Housing Investment Partnership (SolHIP), which provides matching funds and technical assistance to support and help fund the implementation of PDAs in terms of transportation infrastructure and housing production adjacent to regional transit services.  
Approval of STA’s Overall Work Program (OWP) for FYs 2019-20 and 2020-21

At the June 12 meeting, the STA Board approved STA’s two-year Overall Work Plan. This year’s OWP and Budget covers FYs 2019-20 and 2020-21 and includes 47 plans, projects and programs that are either currently underway or have been recommended to be added or modified. Intercity Taxi Card Expands to Vacaville

The Intercity Taxi Card (ITX) Program continues its transition to a debit PEX card, and is scheduled to roll out to the City of Vacaville on July 1. The PEX card replaces paper taxi scrips, and is available to ambulatory and non-ambulatory Americans Disability Act (ADA) certified riders. With the addition of Vacaville, the ITX Program is now available countywide. STA 2018 Annual Report Released

At the June 12 STA Board meeting, the 2018 STA Annual Report was released. The Annual Report highlights major accomplishments from each of STA’s departments for the 2018 calendar year, including adoption of the 2018 Solano Travel Safety Plan, completion of the Dixon’s Green Bike Lane Project, and the conclusion of the Solano Mobility’s Older Adults and People with Disabilities outreach effort with the Countywide Summit.
