Solano Community College (SCC) Students Pass Student Fee Extension for Transit

SCC students passed a ten-year extension of a student fee for transit in Solano County. 85% of students voted to approve the extension. This fee is part of their semester student fee and enables SCC students to ride SolanoExpress or local transit services provided by Fairfield and Suisun Transit (FAST), Solano County Transit (SolTrans) or Vacaville City Coach for free by showing their SCC student ID. Thank you Solano Community College students and staff for making this happen! 
STA Recognizes CCJPA’s David Kutrosky

David Kutrosky, Managing Director of the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA), was recognized at the May Solano Transportation Authority (STA) Board meeting for his many years of service, outstanding leadership and excellent customer service. He was an integral part in the opening of the new Fairfield-Vacaville Train Station (soon to be dedicated in honor of late Solano County Assembly Member Tom Hannigan), improvements to the Suisun-Fairfield Train Depot, and the continued growth in ridership by both Solano County residents and the entire CCJPA rail service. Mr. Kutrosky will be stepping down as Managing Director on June 13, 2019.
SR 37/Fairgrounds Bus Stop Construction Under Way

The new Six Flags/North Vallejo bus stop is currently under construction and scheduled for completion this summer. The stop will be serviced by the new SolanoExpress Red Line which is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2019. The Six Flags/North Vallejo bus stop will be in service during construction. Vallejo Transit Center/York Street Improvement Project

The STA Board approved a $2.4 million construction contract for the Vallejo Transit Center /York Street Improvement Project. This project has been developed in partnership with SolTrans and the City of Vallejo.
STA Hosts Plan Bay Area 2050 Workshop for Solano County

On May 8, the STA received input from members of the public, and from the agency’s Citizen and Staff Based Advisory Committees on the prioritization of Solano County projects being submitted to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC)/Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) for Plan Bay Area 2050. STA will take these comments into consideration when presenting the final list of projects for approval at the June Board meeting. The deadline for STA to submit the approved list of Solano County transportation projects to MTC/ABAG is June 30, 2019.
STA Release Draft of Overall Work Plan (OWP) for FYs 2019-20 and 2020-21

STA updated the two-year OWP for Fiscal Years (FYs) 2019-20 and 2020-21. The OWP includes 47 plans, projects, and programs that are either currently under way or have been recommended for addition or modification. Examples include: Safe Routes to School, Solano Mobility, the Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program, SolanoExpress and the Regional Traffic Impact Fee. The draft OWP was reviewed at the May STA Board meeting and approved for release to the public. The final OWP will be presented at the June Board meeting for approval. To download and review the Draft OWP, click HERE .
FY 2019-20 TFCA Program Management Funds Awarded to Travis AFB & Cal Maritime for EV Chargers

STA provided matching Transportation for Clean Air (TFCA) funds to the California State University Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime) for the installation of 27 Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers and to Travis Air Force Base (AFB) for Phase 1 of the installation of 15 EV chargers.
Bike to School Day 2019

More than 1,650 students at 28 schools throughout Solano County participated in Bike to School Day on May 8. As part of the celebration, 198 students from 18 schools submitted posters to the 2019 Safe Routes to School (SR2S) Poster Contest illustrating safe walking and biking tips. The winner of the poster contest will be announced on the SR2S website. Click HERE to see the winning artwork and to learn more about other SR2S events.

Bike to Work Day 2019

On May 9, STA staff supported the 25th annual Bike to Work Day with 11 energizer stations located throughout Solano County. Over 275 participants took part by riding their bikes to work, and commuters were greeted by local elected officials. Paratransit Coordinating Council (PCC) Member Vacancy

The PCC is one of STA’s Citizen-Based Advisory Committees that provides funding recommendations, and guidance on the development and implementation of transportation programs to serve older adults, people with disabilities and low-income residents. The members of PCC are made up of volunteers from the local community and service agencies. The PCC currently has a vacant position.
