Mayor Len Augustine and BAC Member Jim Fisk Recognized

At the October 10th STA Board Meeting, the Board presented the following proclamations thanking STA Board Member, Vacaville's Mayor Len Augustine, and Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) Member, Jim Fisk, for their years of service working with the STA.

Mayor Augustine served on the STA Board for 15 years and has been a strong supporter of programs initiated by the STA including Safe Routes to School, Solano Mobility, Solano Napa Commuter Information, and SolanoExpress. During his term on the Board, Mayor Augustine has been a leader and proactive advocate for projects benefiting the City of Vacaville and Solano County, including the I-80/I-680/SR 12 Interchange, the Eastbound Cordelia Truck Scales, Vacaville Transit Center, Jepson Parkway in Vacaville, and the Fairfield/Vacaville Train Station.

Jim Fisk served on the BAC for the last 25 years, longer than any member of STA’s Citizen Advisory Committees. He has served and supported various bicycle projects, helped identify projects in the Top Ten Bicycle Rides brochure and supported the Countywide Bike Plan. STA recognizes and thanks Jim Fisk for his many efforts and accomplishments on behalf of Solano County’s cycling community.

On October 1st, STA and Solano County Transit (SolTrans) launched the new Intercity Taxi (ITX) Card Program replacing paper taxi scrip. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) eligible residents located in Benicia and Vallejo are being provided ITX cards that can be used for intercity paratransit trips with participating taxi and other service providers for both ambulatory and now, non-ambulatory passengers. For more information and future expansion plans on the Taxi Card Program, please visit the Solano Mobility website!
Countywide Mobility Summit

On October 18th, over a 130 attendees identified and discussed solutions to improve mobility challenges raised at the previous seven Mobility Summits, which were held in each city in Solano County. The highest priority issues identified based on 2,200 surveys for Older Adults and People with Disabilities, were difficulties traveling to medical appointments and to daily activities. For future updates, please visit www.solanomobility.org or Solano Mobility on  Facebook .
