Bay Trail/Vine Trail Segment in Vallejo Receives Regional ATP Grant
STA and the City of Vallejo received good news before the holidays that the Bay Trail/Vine Trail Segment connecting the Vallejo Ferry Terminal/Waterfront along Wilson Avenue to the City of American Canyon in Napa County has been recommended by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) to receive a $4.2 million regional Active Transportation Program (ATP) grant. This project was identified by STA as Solano County’s #1 priority for the highly competitive ATP grant program and has been a strong partnership project with STA, the City of Vallejo, the Bay Trail and the Vine Trail.
This is the second project in Solano County to be funded as part of the 3rd cycle of ATP grant funding. The City of Fairfield, with assistance from STA, was successful in obtaining $1.7 million in state ATP grant funding awarded by the California Transportation Commission (CTC) for the East Tabor Safe Routes to School Project last year. In addition, Suisun City’s McCoy Creek Multi-Use Path could receive $1.8 million in regional ATP from MTC, subject to STA and Suisun City identifying the balance of the project funding. Congratulations go to all three project sponsors.

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Update
S
TA has launched an Electric Vehicle (EV) Transition Program to identify areas with high demand for EV charging stations, streamline the equipment installation process, and raise awareness of emerging technologies which clean the air and reduce our dependency on fossil fuels. The State has set goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and STA is working towards modernizing infrastructure to support alternative fuel vehicles. STA continues to seek more funding and work with the cities to identify locations for EV charging stations in high demand areas such as shopping centers, workplaces and apartment complexes.

SR2S to Start Youth Engagement Pilot Program
The Solano Safe Routes to School (SR2S) Youth Engagement Pilot Program is being initiated by STA to support middle and high school aged youth in Solano County. Traditionally, the Solano SR2S Program has worked with mostly elementary schools to increase student’s walking and biking to school and doing infrastructure projects near the schools to make it safer and easier to do so.
The new program seeks to engage older youth in SR2S activities countywide, providing opportunities in leadership, service learning, critical thinking and problem-solving which can lead to sustainable active transportation
solutions. The process is guided by a youth-led framework that can be tailored to meet each youth group’s needs. For more information click here or contact Lloyd Nadal at lnadal@sta.ca.gov.

STA Celebrates with Vacaville Opening of the Rocky Hill Trail
The City of Vacaville along with partners Solano County, Yolo Solano Air Quality Management District and STA celebrated completion of the Rocky Hill Trail on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016. The ribbon was cut for the newly paved Rocky Hill Trail at Markham Avenue.
Since 2008, youth members of the Vacaville REACH Coalition have advocated for improvements on the man-made dirt path that goes through this neighborhood. The Project now provides a safer route for pedestrians and bicyclists in the neighborhood. Congratulations to the City of Vacaville for delivering another active transportation project.

SolanoExpress Routes Modification
Solano County Transit (SolTrans), in partnership with the STA, has created a new SolanoExpress commuter bus line, Route 82, effective January 2, 2017.
Route 82 complements enhanced ferry service that the Water Emergency Transportation Agency (WETA) implemented on January 1, 2017 for customers traveling between Vallejo and San Francisco. The increased number of ferry trips replaces Route 200 bus service on weekdays, except for the latest trips of the night. Route 82 offers an alternate solution and meets the needs of customers who use those last trips of the day and need a direct ride between Vallejo and San Francisco. The Adult Fare for a one-way trip is $10. For more information, please visit the Solano Mobility website at www.solanomobility.org or call the Solano Mobility Call Center at 800-535-6883.
Fairfield and Suisun Transit (FAST) has made minor modifications to the service schedule for SolanoExpress Routes 30, 40, and 90 which began on January 9, 2017. These changes reflect current traffic patterns and more closely match the real-time arrival and departure times of the bus. These changes will result in more reliable service timing, improving on-time performance and service reliability for customers. For more information, please visit the Solano Mobility website www.solanomobility.org or call the Solano Mobility Call Center at 800-535-6883.
