Cooking Class Hosted by Ararat Avak Society
Many of our Parishioners and a number of children gathered at church on Saturday, November the 5th to participate in the Cooking Class hosted by the Ararat Avak Society. Preparing traditional Armenian Gata was instructed by our very own master chefs Marianna Hayrapetyan and Anna Mkrtchyan. Everyone followed the recipe, Marianna's special formula, from start to finish.
The class started by mixing the ingredients and then kneading and shaping the dough for the Gata. While the trays of Gata were in the oven baking the participants and other guests enjoyed a festive luncheon hosted by the committee of the Ararat Avak Society.
Everyone was thrilled to take part in this class and take back home their own baked Gatas.
We would like to commend the Ararat Avak Society for this initiative and extend our gratitude to our master chefs Marianna and Anna. The success of all events is the result of the support from those who participate. KUDOS to all who came and ventured. Stay tuned for the next cooking class. If you did not have the chance to participate this time and are interested in future such events, please provide your contact information including your e-mail address to stmarychurchdc@gmail.com.

Armenian Miniature Art Club
Shnorhali School offers the Armenian Miniature Art Club to students after school. With professional guidance from Anna Mkhitaryan, the Club students learn about Armenian miniatures, Armenian calligraphy (bird letters), and its significance, as well as famous Armenian miniature artists. During the sessions, young artists create and illustrate their own miniature projects. Der Hayr Hovsep Karapetyan visited the club on Sunday, November 13th to discuss the importance of this Armenian art. The club meets every Sunday from 2-3 pm at St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church.

Our Little Angels
The students in Yn. Jennifer's 2nd/3rd-grade religion class created angels out of their hand prints for the school bulletin board on Sunday, November 20th. The students were overjoyed once they saw their handiwork displayed, for all to see. These same students will be dressed as angels for the Christmas hantess, which will be a retelling of the Biblical story of Jesus' birth.
Please mark your calendars for Sunday, December 18th. The hantess will be at 1 pm in the parish hall!
