Congress Nears First Shutdown Deadline

As Congress nears its first of two deadlines to avert a partial government shutdown on Friday, March 1, lawmakers have yet to reach an agreement on a compromise bill to fund federal agencies and programs.

National Flood Insurance Program Deadline is March 8, 2024

As Congress continues to negotiate to avoid a government shutdown, NAR is advocating for an on-time extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

NAR has prepared a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Sheet on what an NFIP lapse could mean for real estate closings and what options are available for consumers to buy or renew a flood insurance policy before March 8, 2024.

NAR Comments on Association Health Plans Rule

On December 20, 2023, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) proposed to rescind the 2018 Association Health Plans (AHP) final regulations, which provided comprehensive, affordable health coverage options to small employers and self-employed individuals, including real estate professionals.

In a comment letter submitted on February 20, 2024, NAR expressed disappointment with the latest DOL proposal and set the record straight that REALTOR® AHPs were just as comprehensive but more affordable than health plans under the Affordable Care Act. 

NAR Submits Comments on Veterans Affairs' Minimum Property Requirements

NAR submitted comments in response to an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPR) from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The ANPR dealt with the VA’s minimum property requirements (MPRs).
