SUMMER LEARNING CHALLENGE WRAP UP
Our annual Summer Learning Challenge wrapped up early this month, and we want to share with you the results of this quite unusual year. Special thanks go to the Friends of the Redwood City Library for sponsoring Summer Learning! This program wouldn't be possible without their continuous support to all of our activities.

And now, the numbers:
  • 6,219 books were distributed among Redwood City and North Fair Oaks youth and teens. Staff visited 13 schools, 10 day care centers and held 2 events for the Redwood Shores community, at the Redwood Shores Branch Library.
  • 397 participants registered as finishers in our online form, and a Redwood City student was the winner of the $1,000 scholarship for college!
  • 733 participants attended our 33 Summer Learning Challenges performer events.
  • 212 children participated in English and Spanish book clubs for children in grades 2-5.
  • 2,115 children joined our very popular youth craft programs: Camp Little Learners and Craft Camp.
  • 297 teens participated in Teen Crafts, Gaming Tournaments, Teen Connect and the special Girls Change Making Task Force.
  • 8,507 people viewed our recorded storytimes, including Stories & Play, Stories from Your Community and Cuentos en Casa during the months of June, July and August. An additional 274 customers, including families and children, participated in the Live Bilingual Storytime.
