One of the featured STEM workshops is:
Hands-On Math Games in a Hands-Off World, presented by Stephanie Shamy and Abby Bobbett of Scottsdale Unified School District.
We need to keep our youth active and engaged in meaningful math games and activities we use in school, and in our afterschool programs. Workshop participants should come prepared to play our favorite games we use to practice operational fluency and place value/number sense concepts. All games require a simple deck of cards and regular spotted dice, easy to access for families and educators alike. You will receive game boards, ideas for differentiating the activities to meet the needs of all youth, especially those that have fallen behind due to a year of COVID.
