The 2021 School's Out, Make It Count Conference will feature more than 50 workshops designed specifically for out-of-school time professionals. Eight of these workshops will focus on STEM learning. One of the featured STEM workshops is:

Using Planetary Learning that Advances the Nexus of Engineering, Technology, and Science (PLANETS) as a model, this workshop will explore how this NASA-funded project has taken on next steps to emerge with resources that improve diversity, equity, and access. Participants will experience an example activity, learn how to access free resources, and learn potential steps that can help to connect youth culture and assets with STEM concepts and activities.

The Afterschool Alliance is partnering with Facebook's Engineer for the Week program—it offers a high-quality, cost-free curriculum to help your students develop computer science skills and explore engineering.

The Alliance is also offering afterschool programs a stipend of $1000 to complete the program. To run a one-week Engineer for the Week (EFTW) project with your students, register by October 3, 2021. Facebook provides technical assistance for you to run the project anytime from October 4 to December 3, 2021.

The Arizona Technology Council, in partnership with the Arizona Commerce Authority, announced their selections for Outstanding Technology Senator of the Year, Outstanding Technology Representative of the Year and the top Tech 10 Legislators, in recognition of their roles in advancing technology in Arizona. The winning legislators will be honored at the 2021 Governor’s Celebration of Innovation Awards (GCOI), on Wednesday, October 13, from 4 to 8:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Convention Center.
