Congratulations to our

2025 Scholars!

On behalf of the Exelon Foundation STEM Academy and Exelon Foundation Boys to STEM Academy team, we would like to congragulate this year's scholarship recipients!

Every year, we work to encourage our participants to pursue higher education in STEM. The Chris Crane Memorial Scholarship is a supportive and clear pathway from student engagement in The Exelon Foundation STEM Academy and Boys to STEM Academy to enter into the energy workforce, ideally as an Exelon employee.

This capstone offering of a post-secondary scholarship opportunity to our Exelon Foundation STEM Academy and Exelon Foundation Boys to STEM alumni supports students with a scholarship to a two or four-year educational institution.

Where can we find you this fall?

Congratulations to the Class of 2025 and all of the students who have committed to a school for this upcoming school year!

This word cloud shows the schools that our alumni have committed to continuing onto their next level of education. See if you can find your school in the list!

Hear from Chris Crane Memorial Scholar, Emily Curran!

Hi STEMinist !

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Emily Curran and I am a senior Computer Engineering student at Villanova University and one of the Exelon Foundation Chris Crane Memorial Scholars. I have been involved with the STEM Academy since 2020, serving as a mentor, ambassador, and student staff member at several summer academies.

On Tuesday, April 29th, in collaboration with the incredible teams at PECO and Exelon, I had the opportunity to welcome Mike Innocenzo, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Exelon to Villanova University to speak with our engineering students. Mike earned his MBA at Villanova University in 1996, and his daughter is a current senior here studying Chemical Engineering.

The idea for this event began during a conversation with Christina Kerrigan the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at PECO, about our shared Villanova connection. Christina and I first met at my 2020 Exelon Foundation STEM Academy as an attendee and have stayed in close touch ever since. Christina graduated from Villanova in 1997 studying marketing and is one of the many strong alumni of Villanova and a champion of the STEM Academy program. In conversation I briefly mentioned how cool it would be to bring Mike back to his MBA alma mater to talk about his career and share his knowledge with the students. After workshopping the idea a bit and Christina reaching out to Mike and his team – we found a date!

The event was a huge success, with over seventy-five students in attendance alongside William Patterer, Vice President of Projects & Contracts at PECO, and Christina, making the trek to hear from Mike.

I worked closely with Christina, Mike’s HR team at Exelon, and Villanova’s engineering event planners to bring the event to life. The team at Exelon was so excited and willing to help that the process was incredibly rewarding. I learned a lot about event planning, crafting meaningful questions, and managing speaker flow throughout the process. I received a multitude of feedback from both Christina and Celeste Shea, Corporate Relations Specialist at Exelon – whom I had reached out to for all her STEM Academy planning expertise!

The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many of my peers reaching out to me following the event for company contact information or just to comment on how inspiring and authentic they found Mike’s talk. My favorite question that was asked was about Mike’s priorities for Exelon, asked by one of Villanova’s students in the audience. To this, Mike discussed the importance of safety at Exelon saying, “Our #1 job is to get you

home to your families after work.” – highlighting the company’s employee-first mindset. It’s this kind of culture that keeps drawing me back to Exelon.

All in all, I am so grateful to everyone at Exelon and Villanova who helped make this event such a meaningful experience for the Villanova community.

Go Cats!
