K to 3 – Water Splash
Water Splash: An Early years education pack about water helps young children explore the essential role that water plays in their lives, the availability of water to children in parts of the developing world, and the choices they can make in relation to responsible water use.
Grades 3 to 6 – Clean Water for All
The resource activities aim to increase students’ understanding of the various causes of water pollution and raise awareness of the global inequality of access to safe water around the world.
Grades 6 to 12 – Tapped Out - The World Water Crisis
This resource explores many of the international debates which surround water. Is water a commodity or a human right? Should it be managed privately or publicly? What are the current and future threats to water? Students research current issues surrounding water from both a Canadian and an international perspective. Several exercises allow them to experience through role play and discussion, the emotional issues surrounding water.
Grades 9 to 12 – Thirst
This is a probing documentary into the deplorable conditions of drinking water in northern Ontario First Nations communities. Over 200 First Nations communities in Canada have unclean, unsafe drinking water. The reasons for this on-going tragedy are effectively explored in the film. A guide to accompany the film has been designed to help teachers and students enrich their experience of documentary film by providing support in the form of questions and activities.
