Families are the dominant form of business organization worldwide—they play a leading role in the social and economic wealth creation of communities and countries. To achieve continued growth and continuity, they must pass on the e ntrepreneurial mindsets and capabilities that enable them to create new streams of wealth across many generations —not just pass a business from one generation to the next. We refer to this practice as transgenerational entrepreneurship.

Over 175 leading academics and business families from around the world have joined as partners of the STEP Project to explore Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices. STEP is accepting applications for interested Universities and scholars!

Why is STEP Valuable to You?

"From a professional perspective, it has not only given me access to data for scholarly research, but access to a global and diverse community of scholars, with whom I’ve found different ways to collaborate with.
From a school’s perspective , the project gives its faculty resources for research, outreach opportunities for its own family business community and contributes to its positioning and branding. After all this time, I can only say that my engagement and commitment evolves and grows as much as STEP itself, as a unique global research network."

-- Ana Gonzalez, STEP member for 12 years,
Assistant Professor of Management;
Director, Family Owned Business Institute,
Grand Valley State University, Michigan, USA
