Upcoming SWPMTAC and Steel Water Pipe Section Meeting
The next SPFA pipe section meeting will be held during the Steel Water Pipe Manufacturers Technical Advisory Committee (SWPMTAC) meeting Friday, September 17 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the TradeWinds Island Resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida. STI/SPFA Safety Talk - Communicating Issues
Effective communication is critical to every aspect of a successful job. Being able to work safely especially relies on effective communication between everyone involved in a work task or on a job. Effective communication includes having honest conversations. Part of having honest conversations is bringing up and discussing issues as they arise.
STI/SPFA members and staff will be presenting courses at two upcoming industry events. The International Liquid Terminals Association's (ILTA) 2021 International Operating Conference & Tradeshow is scheduled for October 4-6 in Houston, Texas. STI/SPFA will present the post-conference course - STI/SPFA Field Erected Storage Tank Fundamentals Course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6th. The course is designed for terminal tank owners and operators, engineers, managers, and regulators who wish to increase their knowledge of storage tank construction. The course Repair, Inspection, Modification, and Upgrade of Field Erected Storage Tanks Course will be hosted by STI/SPFA during the 2021 American Petroleum Institute (API) Storage Tank Conference and Expo in Nashville on October 12. This new course is geared toward the continuing operation of existing tanks. The event will help those interested in understanding what can be done to identify and address deficiencies in existing tanks and develop an efficient path to a successful evaluation and repair.
