Heat stress can be a killer on the jobsite. Deaths from heat-related issues between 2005 and 2009 rose to higher rates than any others observed during any other 5-year periods in the past 35 years. Outside of the direct consequences such as heat stroke, heat stress can cause incidents due to loss of focus or excessive fatigue on the job.

Permatank is a double-wall jacketed underground tank that features an inner steel tank coupled with corrosion resistant secondary containment.

A communication was recently sent to Shop Fabricated members of STI/SPFA in regards to the revised tank support program with an option to build tanks to store liquid with a specific gravity of up to three. This file is now available on the STI website, listed under the design category to applicable members.

The next SPFA pipe section meeting will be held during the Steel Water Pipe Manufacturers Technical Advisory Committee (SWPMTAC) meeting Friday, September 17 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the TradeWinds Island Resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida.
