OPPORTUNITY ZONES PROPOSED
The U.S. Treasury Department released proposed rules for the Opportunity Zones tax incentive that was included in the 2017 tax reform act. The zones have the potential to have a large impact on economically depressed areas by using capital gain tax reductions to attract long-term investment capital.

The zones are designated by states and approved by the U.S. Treasury Department. There are 13 such designated zones located within St. Louis County.
