Reflection from Fr. Mike
March 17 – Feast of St. Patrick
Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
--St. Patrick (390-461AD)
I
n Bishop McElroy’s Letter to the People of the Diocese of San Diego, he said “this is not a Lent of our choosing.”
In faith and trust in God, we surrender to our reality which for many is almost beyond comprehension.
Paul Schlunt, a Parishioner of STM, said as he came out of Mass on Sunday, “I guess we have to give up going to Mass for Lent!”
How different is this Lent that we did not choose and over which we have no control!
In this surrender, though, our faith will be deepened and our spirituality will grow stronger!
Remember “Spiritual Communion.” In our desire to receive the Body and Blood of Christ, we are in a very real sense, sharing in that Divine Mystery…our desire makes it real.
Keep desiring and keep receiving!
