Here we are again, on the threshold of the biggest election year of our lives. And right now is the time to put that out of your mind completely. 

Turn off the news. Leave the world behind for a little while. It'll be there when you get back.

Eat chocolate cake for breakfast. Go to three museums in a day. Tell someone how much you love them. (That person can be yourself.) Meditate. Don’t worry if you fall asleep. Write a poem. Buy a remote control fart machine. (If you've had chocolate cake for breakfast, you may not need one.) Go hear live music. Cheer the loudest you’ve ever cheered. Even if it sucks. Especially if it sucks! Forgive someone you never thought you’d forgive. (That person can be yourself.) And use these, the longest nights of the year, to sleep, sleep, sleep so long you wake up awash in dreams.

Stockpile joy.

And when we wake up in the new year, we’ll harness this joy to wake up the whole world, gentle as the sunrise, and as unstoppable.

Super volunteer Cecily Young and her husband John decked the halls of their gorgeous home and we all grabbed a Democra-tini (a dessicated orange drowning in a sea of blue gin) and gathered around the piano to fa-la-la-la-la hilarious political parody songs written by Ron Mulligan. Our Partnerships Team Leader Kala Maxym blew us away with her operatic vocal stylings – followed by Volunteer Steering Committee luminary Patti Crane and data virtuoso Peter Hosey, who wowed the crowd with their funny and informative presentation summarizing Field Team 6's incredible outcomes in the '22 cycle (spoiler alert: 1,687,446 people registered after contact by Field Team 6)! We got to hang out with some of the original legends of voter registration known as "Seal Team 6": Jane Preece, Wendy Dozoretz, and Shelley Brown - our brilliant Script Lead Mel Burgess, who flew down from Canada - and so many more of the most inspiring crew in the world. So grateful for every single one of you!
