Convention Wrap-Up
Final minutes posted
Thank you all for a wonderful and productive 2016 Annual Meeting! House of Delegates minutes  have been finalized and approved, including all the committee meeting minutes. You can access those online . You can also access the 2017 Committee Request form online. Completing this survey is  required  if you want to serve on a committee. The deadline to complete this survey is Friday, Sept. 30, so don't delay!

The 2016 Convention Evaluation survey is also available online. Please take this survey--we want your feedback so that we can make next year's Convention even better!

Also, if you attended a workshop at convention, please fill out the associated evaluation for that workshop. You can access those surveys at the bottom of the Convention page under the post-convention header. We appreciate your feedback!

We've also published a press release announcing all election and award winners. Congratulations, and thank you for your service!

Now that the 2016 Convention has been completed, be sure to mark your calendars for the 2017 Convention  scheduled for Sept. 13 through Sept. 17 in Dallas, Texas. We look forward to seeing you there!

Help a Researcher Out
Contribute your experiences to a scientific study
heart, beat, cardiology, science, study
If you attended convention, then you probably already know about the amazing Sports Medicine presentation Hirofumi Tanaka, director of the cardiovascular aging research laboratory at the University of Texas made about swimmers, their health, and aging. During his presentation, he referenced a study he's conducting into injury among swimmers, and we're asking you for help in getting him the data he needs. Fill out the survey and pass it along to your swimming friends and teammates, and perhaps together we can help Dr. Tanaka solve some of the deepest mysteries of what makes a swimmer a swimmer.

Two membership options are available in September and October. New members may select the Year-Plus option, which gives them a 2016 membership plus a 2017 membership, and includes a $24 discount off the 2016 portion of the national fee. They also have the option to join just for the remainder of 2016 for a $14 discount.

On November 1, all members can join or renew for the 2017 membership year. The national office and your LMSC registrar will be providing more information as November 1 approaches.
The 1-Hour Swim is Coming!
Spur participation in your LMSC!
2017 1-Hour epostal
The Speedo USMS 1-Hour ePostal event will open on January 1, 2017, and we'd like to encourage you to get your clubs and teammates involved. We're striving for our biggest year yet, so consider hosting a day or weekend for swimmers from across your LMSC to complete this event and count for each other sometime in January or February. The HOD approved a proposal to extend the swimming period for this annual National Championship event to cover both January and February (bad weather over the past two years in many parts of the country pointed to a need to extend the swim period), so now there's simply no excuse. Use the 1-Hour swim as it was intended to build camaraderie and fitness after the busy holiday season.
Upcoming Peer-to-Peer Calls
Log on to teleconferences for best practices
Need to Know
Mark your calendars for the next three peer-to-peer teleconference calls for:

Secretaries: Wed ., Nov. 2, 5:30 p.m. Pacific | 8:30 p.m. Eastern

The goal of these calls is to provide an opportunity for you to pose questions, get answers, discuss challenges, and share successes as you fulfill your role. In turn, we can use the information shared to help build a repository of best practices for each of our volunteer positions.
Prior to the call, we encourage you to log on to the LMSC Administration Forum to post questions or topics of interest that you would like covered. Email notifications are sent 2 to 3 weeks prior to the respective volunteer and to the LMSC chair.

Notes from Peer-to-Peer calls are now more easily accessible in the Meeting Minutes section of usms.org . Look under the For Volunteers tab and select the Meeting Minutes page. Then, select Peer-to-Peer Teleconference Notes from the By Committee or Group drop-down menu. Happy reading!
