Happy February! As you may have noticed, we've moved to a monthly newsletter, so we have lots to share since we were last in touch!

First, we're excited to let you know that we've begun a soft reopening of SLAM! After extensive HVAC upgrades, cleaning, PPE stocking, inspections, scenario planning, and protocol training, our dancers, educators, and staff have started returning to the space to train and ready SLAM for the public. We are still moving forward extremely carefully, and in strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols outlined by federal, state, and local health departments, but it feels great to be "home" and physically present again.
Our soft opening will start with opportunities for private lessons in PopAction, trapeze and trampoline classes. Contact [email protected] for pricing and scheduling and stay tuned for more in-person programming coming soon, but continue to join us online at STREB Remote as well!

We're thrilled to announce our honorees for this year's Action Maverick Award Benefit. This year, we honor Cynthia Nixon and Christine Marinoni as mavericks who fight the good fight on behalf of equality in education and LGBTQ+ rights. We will celebrate virtually on May 17, 2021 - Save the Date!
In the spirit of coalition and resource sharing, STREB has joined with NYC arts and cultural organizations of all sizes and structures to build and support the CULTURAL SOLIDARITY FUND. We invite you to join us - if you're an artist in need of relief, apply for a $500 microgrant - if you're an organization or an individual, sponsor an artist! The artist application will be open from Feb 26th to Mar 5. BIPOC, immigrant, undocumented, and/or disabled/deaf applicants will be prioritized.

Sarah Donnelly (Action Hero 2005-2011), who was SLAM's Director of Education and Access, and now serves as the Managing Director of Partnerships and Institutional Learning at The Opportunity Network, recently reflected on the importance of community and trust in PopAction and at SLAM.

And Samantha Jakus (Action Hero Alum 2009-2016), who is now a Creative Arts Therapist, contributed some more thoughts and truths about her time in the company, and what drove her always intense performance - watch her compelling combined video above.

All our adult classes are offered for free. Please consider a donation to support our teaching artists and staff as they bring you these remote programs.

From the España-STREB Trapeze Academy...
The ESTA curated QUARANTINE CABARET is still available for viewing at SofaCircus.com. We also continue to share other video gems from the past, as well as some inspirational flying stories from our staff and workshop students.

All the statement pieces from our classic collection as well as our new limited edition STREB/Voodo Fé collection are still available in our STREB Store. But, we will be clearing out some inventory this month to make room for some new items for the spring, so make sure to get what you want now!
