STS BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATIONS

Southeast Tourism Society welcomes applications from those interested in serving as a member of the STS Board of Directors. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to share your experience and influence decisions that involve the future of tourism in the southeast. You can make a difference in our industry and region.

Southeast Tourism Society (STS) is a “working board” whose members play an active and important role in the success of the organization. To serve on the Board, members are required to:

  1. Attend and participate fully in board meetings, annual conferences, and other STS functions and events
  2. Serve on an STS Pillar Committee
  3. Understand and protect the fiduciary health of the organization
  4. Understand and adhere to the democratic process of a non-profit board
  5. Understand, promote, and be committed to STS programs, public policies, vision, goals, and principles as set forth in our bylaws
  6. Complete Board orientation training within 60 days of being appointed to the Board


Frank Lloyd Wright Buildings Inscribed on
UNESCO World Heritage List

“This recognition by UNESCO is a significant way for us to reconfirm how important Frank Lloyd Wright was to the development of modern architecture around the world,” recognized Barbara Gordon, the executive director of the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy , the international organization that advocates for the architect’s structures and that oversees the committee set up to monitor the World Heritage inscription.  
Bourbon Beckons Tourists to a Different Part of Kentucky
"In response, in part to shine a spotlight on some of the smaller, newer distillers, the towns of Frankfort, Covington and Bardstown have launched their own initiative called “ Come Find Bourbon .” All three Kentucky towns are home to innovative newer distilleries like Boone County Distilling Co. and New Riff in Covington, to more established destinations like Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, Woodford Reserve and Wild Turkey near Frankfort, and Willett, Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark in the Bardstown area."

"Craft artisans across the mountains are getting a big boost. The  Blue Ridge National Heritage Area  is getting $125,000 in grants to launch a system of driveable craft trails in 25 Western North Carolina counties."

Site nominations requested for Louisiana Civil Rights Trail
"Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and the Louisiana Office of Tourism are seeking site nominations for the new Louisiana Civil Rights Trail .The trail will help to share the overarching role Louisiana played in the Civil Rights Movement."
