COLLEGE OF SCIENCE & ENGINEERING NEWSLETTER

A Note from Interim Dean Jenny Loertscher

Jenny Loertscher, PhD, Interim Dean of the College of Science and Engineering

As we enjoy summer in Seattle, I want to thank our students, faculty, staff, alumni, industry partners and friends for your continued support of the College of Science and Engineering. Together, you help create the opportunities, experiences and partnerships that prepare our students to make a meaningful impact in their careers and communities.

In this newsletter, you'll meet two outstanding members of the Class of 2026, Saxton Van Dalsen and Kiera Tanaputra, whose unique journeys reflect the talent and determination of our graduates. You'll also read about faculty members Dr. Yen-Lin Han, whose work bridges engineering and fashion, and Dr. Phil Thompson, who will continue his global water research as a Fulbright Scholar in Thailand. We also look back at our 38th Annual Projects Day with a two-part series highlighting some of the 54 industry-sponsored projects showcased across seven departments.

Thank you for being part of the CSE community, and I hope you enjoy this summer edition of our newsletter.
