Letter from the Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome back! It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through Term 4 and in the final stretch of the school year. The time has truly flown by, and it’s exciting to look ahead to all that is still to come.

We are looking forward to many of our cherished end-of-year traditions, including Student Council Elections, Class Elections, Prom, the Spring Celebration of the Arts, May Crowning, the Mother-Daughter Event, and the Spring play. These moments are what make this time of year so special and memorable for our students and our community.

As the weeks ahead fill quickly with activity, we encourage our students to stay focused, finish strong academically, and take time to enjoy these meaningful experiences with their classmates. This season is a wonderful reminder of the growth, friendships, and accomplishments that have defined the year.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to celebrating these final weeks together.

Soli Deo Gloria,

Lindsay

PowerSchool Class Action Settlement Notice

An email was recently sent to many students and parents regarding a class action settlement involving PowerSchool and the Illinois court system. After review, we can confirm that this email is legitimate.

St. Ursula Academy has not been provided with detailed information about this settlement and is not involved in the lawsuit. This matter pertains to individual students and parents/guardians of minors who accessed Naviance.

For those seeking more information, please refer to the original email you received. At the bottom, under “How Do I Get More Information?”, you will find additional details and a link to the official FAQ (www.powerschoolnaviancesettlement.com).

At this time, the school does not have further information to share. Any questions should be directed to the resources provided in the official communication.

Vaccination Reminders

Please plan accordingly for the 2026-2027 school year. The State of Ohio requires the following vaccinations:

Parents of current 6th graders—Two shots are required by the State of Ohio for admittance into 7th grade; a Tdap booster (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and the meningitis vaccine (MCV4).

Parents of current 11th graders—The meningitis vaccine (MCV4) is required by the State of Ohio for admittance into 12th grade.

Once completed, please turn in a copy of the updated vaccine record to the Main Office or email a copy to Nurse Lauran Graves at lgraves@toledosua.org.

Test Results

IOWA Test Results

The State of Ohio requires students to earn test points on the End of Course exams or approved alternative assessment (such as the Iowa Test) to graduate. This spring, we administered the Iowa Test to freshmen and sophomores. Students were instructed to pick up their report this week. These assessments are also used to monitor yearly progress in addition to graduation requirements. Students are required to take the Iowa Test both freshman and sophomore years. Ask your daughter to view the report and the additional handout on Academic Central (on Canvas) that will guide you in interpreting the results.

ACT Test Results

The State of Ohio also requires students to complete the ACT to graduate. In the spring, we administered the ACT to the Class of 2027. If your daughter cannot view her report on the CollegeBoard site, she can stop by Ms. Shockey's office to pick up a printed report that is now available.

Red Bird District First Friday

Ceramics II students had the opportunity to visit Alverno Studio on Lourdes University's campus to build and glaze whimsical birdhouses under the supervision of artists Sister Magdala Davlin and Jordy Rengifo Poma. 110 ceramic birdhouses were made by various artists in celebration of National Bird Migration Month and the 110th anniversary of the Sylvanian Franciscans.

The birdhouses will be displayed inside shops along Main Street in downtown Sylvania on Friday, May 1. We invite you to enjoy the birdhouses and a lively evening in the Sylvania community!

Our lost and found is overflowing with items that do not have names on them. If your daughter is missing something, make sure she checks for it in the Main Office.

NEWS

Toledo YES Project

The Toledo YES Project is a four-day summer service project for high school students in the Toledo area. Students serve private homeowners who are unable to maintain or improve their homes, as well as participate in both social and spiritual activities.

Applications are open to all high schoolers, regardless of school, age, or faith background. Rising freshmen are also welcome to apply! Graduating seniors can apply to be Junior Crew leaders, and adults can volunteer in different capacities as well. Check out their website for more information.

Upcoming Service Opportunities

Every two weeks, students receive an Upcoming Service Opportunities flyer with places students can volunteer within the next month. Click here to view the flyer.

If you have any questions about Christian Service, please email Samantha Meklus at smeklus@toledosua.org.
