As we enter the month of May, we look ahead to a season filled with tradition, reflection, and celebration. We are especially excited to carry on the beautiful tradition of May Crowning this Friday, as we gather in prayer to honor Mary and reflect on her example of faith and devotion.

And speaking of traditions, May is one of the most meaningful times of the year at SUA. It is a month filled with moments that mark both endings and new beginnings. Opportunities for our students to celebrate how far they have come and look ahead to what’s next.

For our eighth grade students, one of their final milestones in the Junior Academy will be the TED-Ed Capstone presentations on May 6. This experience is a powerful culmination of their time in the JA, giving them the opportunity to share their ideas, passions, and voices as they prepare for the next chapter.

Our seniors will also be celebrating a number of cherished traditions that mark the close of their high school journey, including Senior Sunset and the Mother/Daughter Luncheon. These moments create space for reflection, gratitude, and connection as they prepare to say goodbye to their time at SUA.

It is a joy to walk alongside our students and families during this special time of year. Thank you for being part of these traditions that make SUA such a meaningful place.

Community Art and Production is a semester-long class where students learn about public art by working directly with a community partner to design and create a mural in their space. This year, eight seniors and one junior collaborated with The Victory Center to create a mural in their exercise room. The Victory Center is a non-profit organization that provides hope and support to cancer patients, survivors, and those closest to them.

Vaccination Reminders

Please plan accordingly for the 2026-2027 school year. The State of Ohio requires the following vaccinations:

Parents of current 6th graders—Two shots are required by the State of Ohio for admittance into 7th grade; a Tdap booster (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and the meningitis vaccine (MCV4).

Parents of current 11th graders—The meningitis vaccine (MCV4) is required by the State of Ohio for admittance into 12th grade.

Once completed, please turn in a copy of the updated vaccine record to the Main Office or email a copy to Nurse Lauran Graves at lgraves@toledosua.org.

Toledo YES Project

The Toledo YES Project is a four-day summer service project for high school students in the Toledo area. Students serve private homeowners who are unable to maintain or improve their homes, as well as participate in both social and spiritual activities.

Applications are open to all high schoolers, regardless of school, age, or faith background. Rising freshmen are also welcome to apply! Graduating seniors can apply to be Junior Crew leaders, and adults can volunteer in different capacities as well. Check out their website for more information. Applications close tomorrow, April 30.

Adoration

Every Wednesday at 7:00 a.m., we will be having Eucharistic Adoration in our chapel open to all students! We will conclude with a morning prayer at 7:45 a.m.

Toledo Labre Program

Students are invited to prepare and serve food to individuals on the South and East side of Toledo every Monday night from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. This opportunity is a unique, student-led effort that provides students with a hands-on, direct service experience. Students and parents can also donate casseroles to be served each night.

Spring Athletics Update

Varsity Lacrosse picked up three big wins over Notre Dame Academy, Ottawa Hills, and Mercy! Currently, the team is 10-2 overall and 4-1 in the league. The JV team played Mercy to a thrilling 9-9 tie yesterday. Next week, the team plays in the CHSL Semifinal on Tuesday.

The Track team won the Genoa Invitational! Earning top three finishes were Brooklyn Bellafronte, Kennedy Donnelly, Kennedy Boze, Shanice Achaleke, Aubrey Massey, the 4x800m relay team, and the 4x400m relay team. The Arrows placed eighth at the Fostoria Invitational. The team will compete in the Erme Relays at Whitmer on Friday.

The Crew team competed in Ann Arbor at the Mitten Sprints 2. The Varsity 4+ team placed fourth!

Softball split an important CHSL matchup with Regina. The Arrows won game one, 5-2, before dropping game two, 6-1. The Arrows are back in action this week when they host Mercy in a CHSL doubleheader on Thursday.

St. Francis de Sales Cheerleading Tryouts are approaching quickly. All information is in the attached documents for grades 9-12 for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.

Home Game Ticketing

Spectators may purchase tickets through the SUA website at the link below or with cash at the event per the CHSL and Ohio State regulations. Spectator tickets for adults cost $10 online or at the door. General admission tickets at the door are $6 for students. SUA faculty and staff are admitted free to home events and may bring one guest.
