Letter from the Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome to December! A month filled with joy, tradition, and celebration here at St. Ursula Academy. We are grateful to share this special season with you and your daughters.

We began the month together on Monday with our Advent Prayer Service, a meaningful and reflective experience that centered our community as we enter this season of hope and anticipation. This weekend, our high school students will continue the festivities as they dance the night away at the SUA Christmas Dance.

Looking ahead, next week is filled with opportunities to celebrate the many gifts of our students. On Wednesday, we will honor our juniors during the Junior Class Ring Ceremony, a cherished milestone in their SUA journey. On Thursday, December 11, we invite you to join us for our Christmas Celebration of the Arts, where our talented students will share the beauty of the season through art pieces, music, and performances. In addition, our athletic programs are in full swing, and we hope to see you cheering on our Arrows at one of the many games taking place throughout the week.

We look forward to sharing this joyful month with all of you. Thank you for your continued support of our school and the wonderful young women we serve.

Soli Deo Gloria,

Lindsay

Les Misérables tickets are on sale now!

There are two ways to purchase tickets: on the Valentine Theatre official website or by calling the Valentine Theatre box office at 419-242-2787. Please note the following:

• Ticket fraud has become a big problem for all local theatres. The Valentine attempts to combat this by only selling tickets online to zip codes within a 60-mile radius. If you have family members attempting to buy tickets outside of this radius, they will have to call.

• Online ticket purchases carry additional online transaction fees. Before January 1, phone orders carry fewer fees, however, on January 1 all credit and debit card orders (online, in person, and on the phone) will charge additional fees. Get your tickets before January 1 to avoid additional fees.

• All tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable. If we are close to selling out, SUA will start a Google Doc where people can list tickets to sell/exchange with each other. The Valentine Theatre will not refund or exchange any tickets for a different performance for any reason.

Become a Patron

Ticket sales cover about a third of our production costs, so we would love the support of our SUA community. We have ad space available in quarter-page, half-page, and full-page sizes. Patron packages include ad space in the program and an invitation to our Patron Reception on Friday, January 30, 2026.

Note from the Finance Office

Please make sure your tuition balance and all fall and winter sports fees are up to date before exams on December 18. Reach out to Holly Martens in the Finance Office if you have any questions, hmartens@toledosua.org or 419-329-2204.

Stay Connected: Sign Up (or Re-Sign Up!) for SUA Alerts

We understand that timely communication is critical, especially when it concerns your daughter's safety and schedule. St. Ursula Academy (SUA) uses the SchoolMessenger Communicate system to send urgent notifications straight to your phone and email regarding:

  • Weather-related delays and closures
  • Emergency situations
  • School-wide drills (e.g., fire, lockdown)
  • Other time-sensitive announcements

Did You Miss the Delay Alert?

On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, SUA sent a text message notification regarding the two-hour weather delay.

If you did not receive a text message from SUA that morning, we strongly urge you to take one minute to sign up for notifications, even if you believe you are already enrolled.

Sometimes, phone carriers require parents to re-confirm their opt-in status. Re-subscribing is the fastest way to ensure you receive critical text alerts immediately.

To ensure you receive text alerts from SUA, follow these simple steps:

  1. Text the letter "Y" or "Yes" to the shortcode number 67587.
  2. You should receive a confirmation text message that says you are now subscribed to the SchoolMessenger Communicate system.

Please Note: By opting in, you agree to receive text messages at your cell phone number. Standard text messaging rates may apply based on your mobile plan. The SchoolMessenger system also uses your contact information on file to send emails, providing comprehensive communication for all important announcements.

If you have any questions or continue to have issues receiving alerts, please contact Mark Miller, Director of Technology, at mmiller@toledosua.org.

Afro-Club Fundraiser

Give yourself a night off from cooking on Thursday, December 11 and get dinner at Chipotle. Proceeds support SUA's Afro-Club. Make sure to use the flyer below!

Advent Giving Tree

Our Advent Giving Tree will be set up in the Angela Lobby until December 17. Students are welcome to take home an ornament and purchase a gift for those in need. This year we have ornaments for La Posada Family Shelter, Heartbeat of Toledo, and Toledo Labre Program. All gifts must be returned to campus ministry by December 17. Further instructions/information can be found on the tags, and please take only one ornament to allow all students a chance to participate. Thank you for bringing joy to others this holiday season!

Monthly Angela Reflection

DECEMBER 2025Trusting in God and God’s providence is one of the hardest things we are asked to do. As human beings, we like to be in control of all that affects us. We think - who knows better what we need and what we want than ourselves!
