Letter from the Principal |
Dear SUA Families,
Last week, we kicked off our Sorelle program which means “Sisters” in Italian. Sorelle gives students an opportunity to connect with their classmates and establish new relationships outside of the classroom. During our kick-off week, Sorelle groups met every day to participate in team building activities.
Each high school Sorelle group has 12-15 girls from the same grade level led by a teacher or a staff member with activities coordinated by Mrs. Decker, Student Life and Wellness Initiatives Coordinator. The Junior Academy Sorelle activities are planned by Ms. Rutkowski, JA Assistant and Student Life Coordinator.
Sorelle meets every Thursday for 25 minutes. SUA faculty and staff serve as Sorelle facilitators, leading the students through discussions and activities that help build a sense of belonging, develop communication skills and build supportive peer relationships. The students remain with the same group throughout high school allowing them to connect and share our SUA traditions.
Soli Deo Gloria,
|
Elizabeth Huebner
Interim Principal

Grandparents' Day Mass
Grandparents' Day Mass and celebration will take place on Friday, September 13, at 7:45 a.m. RSVPs are due this Friday, September 6.
Please be sure to reach out to your daughter's grandparents to see if they plan to attend and have RSVP'd. We expect to have our highest-attended Grandparents' Day Mass this year, which means we need accurate numbers for seating and donuts/beverages. If you have questions regarding the event, please contact Michelle Moses at mmoses@toledosua.org.

Arrow Card Drive
We are in the second week of our Arrow Card Drive! This is our only student fundraiser and is vital in supporting scholarships that directly benefit our students. This year, the fundraiser will run through Monday, September 23. The Arrow Card, available for $10, offers discounts at designated vendors throughout the 2024-2025 school year, including many popular locations.
Arrow Card money will be collected before school each day of the drive.
Each student is responsible for either turning in her money or unsold cards by Monday, September 23. Any unreturned cards will be added to your daughter’s tuition statement. If you have questions, please reach out to Lindsay Jordan at ljordan@toledosua.org.
All proceeds will be used for financial aid, so your support is truly appreciated!

Audition Preview
SUA students in grades 8-12 and male performers from any area high school (within a reasonable driving distance) are invited to our Legally Blonde Audition Preview on September 15 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. to learn the audition music and choreography in preparation for our Legally Blonde auditions on September 26-28, 2024. Get to know the creative team, meet friends, and ask questions!
Students do not need to attend this preview to audition, but it is very helpful! The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Wear clothes you can move in, and print your own audition music. All audition music and rehearsal information can be found on the Google Drive link (which is also linked on the SUA website under the Current Families tab).
Auditions will be held September 26-28, but students only need to attend one day. Students of all experience levels are encouraged to audition—we need high-energy singers, dancers, musicians, gymnasts, and people who can jump rope!
All questions should be directed to Mrs. Hinshaw at khinshaw@toledosua.org.

Counseling Department News
National Suicide Prevention Week is September 9-13, 2024. The SUA Counseling Department has been working toward breaking the stigma around this topic through morning announcements, chalking positive messages outside the school, an 'Out of the Darkness' Walk, and a resource table at lunch.
Also, on Tuesday, September 10, we are encouraging students to wear purple socks and accessories to send a unified message of hope. The topic of suicide can be sensitive, so we encourage you to have an open dialogue with your daughters. The SUA Counselors are available to provide any additional support and resources if needed.
