It’s hard to believe, but 2023 is halfway over! While the summertime can be exciting, full of vacations, and lots to do outdoors – it's also a great time to give yourself a mid-year financial checkup and encourage your clients to do the same. That may look different depending on your goals, but some great places to start are:
1. Review Your Budget
Take some time to review your monthly budget. Is it working for you? Are you hitting the goals you have set with your budget? Has anything changed? We often look at the beginning and the end of the year for guidance on how to adjust our habits when it comes to budgeting, but the middle of the year is always a great time to check-in, reflect, and adjust. Did you know that by meeting with a Financial Coach, you can receive a FREE subscription to the YNAB budgeting app? We encourage Central Texas to gai control of their money with the use of accessible and popular tools like YNAB App for all your budgeting needs.
2. Check Your Credit Report
Now is the ideal time to review your credit report. Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian have implemented changes that require the removal of medical collections under $500 and paid medical debts from your credit report. If you come across a medical collection under $500, a paid medical collection, a collection less than a year old, or any errors on your report, you can dispute them with the credit reporting company.
3. Review Your Financial Resolutions and Long-Term Goals
Maybe you set resolutions for how you spend money in the New Year or decided to focus more on your long-term goals from several years ago. If you had a plan for them but didn’t follow through, it doesn’t mean it’s too late! Review your previous goals – either recent or long-term – and make the adjustments that fit your lifestyle and perspective now.
