Tax Relief Made Easy with IRS Payment Plan Options and Prosper Tax Help!

Many taxpayers avoid filing their taxes because they may owe money to the IRS and feel that they can’t pay. By not paying their taxes, taxpayers may be missing out on essential tax credits that can be applied towards their debt or credits that can be refunded to them, regardless of debt!

For taxpayers who owe money, most qualify for an IRS payment plan, called the Online Payment Agreement (OPA). There’s two options for individual taxpayers, depending on the amount owed.

  • Short-term payment plans: For taxpayers with less than $100,000 in combined tax, penalties, and interest. This plan gives an extra 180 days (about 6 months) to pay the balance in full.
  • Long-term payment plans: For taxpayers who have less than $50,000 in combined tax, penalties, and interest. This option allows monthly payments for up to 72 months (about 6 years).

Our IRS-Certified tax specialists are available to help clients find a payment plan that works best for them and check their eligibility for tax credits that could decrease the amount they may owe. We’re open through October 14th at our two Prosper Center locations on the following days and times:

  • Tuesdays: 12pm - 6pm
  • Thursdays: 9am – 3pm
  • One Saturday a month (7/8, 8/19, 9/16, 10/14): 9am – 1pm

What Is a Deductible, Anyways? Prosper Health Coverage Is Here to Help!

Over 80% of Americans struggle with health terms and plan details. Part of our goal as Prosper Health Coverage Navigators is to help clients gain health literacy. This summer, we’re launching a series to teach community members health insurance basics. To kick it off, PHC Navigator Sharon shares the definition of a deductible in this 3 minute video.

For help understanding their deductible or other health plan details, community members can call, text, or email Prosper Health Coverage anytime. We have next-day appointments, over-the-phone or in-person, available.

Many people can still enroll in health plans with low deductibles that will help them stay healthy this summer. For help with Medicaid, CHIP, or Marketplace health insurance applications or help using other affordable healthcare programs, contact us anytime!

Time for a Mid-Year Check-In!

It’s hard to believe, but 2023 is halfway over! While the summertime can be exciting, full of vacations, and lots to do outdoors – it's also a great time to give yourself a mid-year financial checkup and encourage your clients to do the same. That may look different depending on your goals, but some great places to start are:

1. Review Your Budget

Take some time to review your monthly budget. Is it working for you? Are you hitting the goals you have set with your budget? Has anything changed? We often look at the beginning and the end of the year for guidance on how to adjust our habits when it comes to budgeting, but the middle of the year is always a great time to check-in, reflect, and adjust. Did you know that by meeting with a Financial Coach, you can receive a FREE subscription to the YNAB budgeting app? We encourage Central Texas to gai control of their money with the use of accessible and popular tools like YNAB App for all your budgeting needs.

2. Check Your Credit Report

Now is the ideal time to review your credit report. Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian have implemented changes that require the removal of medical collections under $500 and paid medical debts from your credit report. If you come across a medical collection under $500, a paid medical collection, a collection less than a year old, or any errors on your report, you can dispute them with the credit reporting company.

3. Review Your Financial Resolutions and Long-Term Goals

Maybe you set resolutions for how you spend money in the New Year or decided to focus more on your long-term goals from several years ago. If you had a plan for them but didn’t follow through, it doesn’t mean it’s too late! Review your previous goals – either recent or long-term – and make the adjustments that fit your lifestyle and perspective now.

Our Financial Coaches are trained experts who can help clients with a variety of financial planning and recovery services! Schedule an appointment at ProsperFinancialWellness.org or by calling 737-717-4000 today!
