Celebrating our 20 New Graduates!
Cierra, a South Side Graduate
Sara, a Parkview Graduate!

We'd also like to extend our special congratulations to our North Fulton Student, Samantha. To our surprise and pride, she was awarded the distinction of Valedictorian!
Our kids are always extraordinary, but this year marked something special. Throughout the pandemic, our seniors worked tirelessly against unpredictable barriers with 94% of our students maintaining contact with their mentors. To mark their achievements, many mentor-mentee pairs celebrated over Zoom with banners, T-shirts, and food. Many graduates were also nominated for program awards. Our senior Cierra from Tri-Cities High School was awarded "The Shining Star Award: in Recognition of her Unparalleled Performance and Unmatched Dedication in and Beyond the Classroom!"

One of our Gwinnett County graduates, Sara, graduated with Honors from Parkview High School and is going on to GSU in the fall with plans to transfer to Georgia Tech where she can major in biochemistry! After relocating in early 2019, Sara's parents returned to Pakistan but wanted Sara to continue her education here in the US. Family friends arranged for Sara to rent a room in their home so she could attend Parkview High School and she went to work immediately at a local restaurant to support herself. Her outstanding performance inspires us so much here at StandUp and we're so grateful to get to play a small part in these amazing kids' lives!!

Jennifer Hossler: Street Volunteer and Training Specialist
We are so grateful to have the help and expertise of Jennifer Hossler, a Social Worker at the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy who now serves as the Project Manager for Project Intersect. Originally from Minnesota, Jen has over twenty years of Social Work experience and has dedicated her life to work with traumatized children and their families. Jen has been a fixture on street outreach for over 6 months now and over the spring began our very own Psychological First Aid Trainings for both volunteers and staff, completing 6 trainings for our community. Her next training will be held on August 13th at 11am. We are so grateful for you, Jen!
Partnerships and Extraordinary Donations
We are so grateful for our longtime partners at Word of Faith Love Center. With tenants of unconditional love and dedication to their community, Word of Faith upholds all that we value here at StandUp. Last year they graced us with an extensive donation of greatly needed items for our school kids. This year, join us in celebrating their generous donation to the South Side, allowing out kids to be well fed and continually supported over the summer and beyond.

We would also like to thank our incredible and longstanding partner, The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy . GCCA is an entity of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and is focused on working with youth who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation. Currently, they are working to help implement Trauma Informed Care in their own model and other organizations across the nation: including StandUp for Kids! We are so grateful fo their time and resources.
Hand Sanitizer Galore!
This month we received an incredibly generous donation from Arbonne, a multi-level marketing company known for producing vegan skin care, cosmetics and nutrition. We would like to thank Arbonne fr it's generous donation of hygiene supplies. They will benefit the kids on the streets and we are in the process now of delivering hand sanitizer to our partnership schools. The donation provides a critical resource to protect kids and volunteers. We have also passed along products to our San Antonio and Hampton Roads chapters. Thanks Arbonne!
