Jon's Corner
Hello to all my Coolest Self Advocates out there.
Last week Brian and I got to speak on Voting. I mentioned if this was your first time going, I would say why don’t you come with me & see what voting is like or all about so you can try it by yourself next time.
We both brought up some Issues like Transportation and the Marriage Penalty.
Voting matters to everybody. Your VOTE counts always.
You can get help at the polling place if you need it. We also brought up the Accessible Voting Machine so if they want to use it that is available. If people can’t use the paper ballots use the Accessible Voting Machine with headphones. The machine does get loud if you use it without the headphones.
If you are not registered to vote you can register to vote ahead of time or at the time of elections.
Just remember the person or issue you are voting for doesn’t care if you have a Disability. You have the right to exercise your right to vote.
It's never too early to start making a plan to vote this November.
Below is a photo of an accessible voting machine should you want to use one.
