Ugly Sweater Christmas Party
TONIGHT is our youth Christmas party! There will be snacks, games, prizes, and a whole lot of merriness. All students are asked to wear a Ugly Christmas Sweater. There will be a prize for best sweater. We will have a white elephant gift exchange and ask each student to bring a gift of $5.00 or less (preferably something they have around the house that they would like to share with others).
We would like to have lots of food and drinks for our students to enjoy throughout the evening and are asking for your child to help make this possible.
We would like to have the girls bring drinks to share and the boys to bring snacks to share. The drinks and snacks will replace the dinner that we typically serve on Wednesday nights.
We hope that all parents and students can join us for our Parent Appreciation Night on Wednesday, January 9, at 6pm, in Memorial Hall. This is an evening designed to thank the parents of SUMC's Youth Ministry for all of the support they have shown us over the year. The evening will be filled with dinner, fellowship, information for the upcoming semester, and lots of fun!
Cold Winter Nights
Before we start our next Wednesday night message series, we are excited to spend the month of January growing more connected with each other. We are planning three Wednesdays of fellowship and fun!
January 16 - Movie Night
On Wednesday, January 16, we will host a movie night in the youth room. The movie will start promptly at 6:00 p.m. and will conclude by 8:00 p.m. Snacks and drinks will be provided. We encourage your student(s) to dress comfortably and bring a pillow to enjoy watching the movie on the big screen in the youth room.
January 23 - Andy B's
The Youth Ministry will be going to Andy B's on National and Battlefield on Wednesday, Wednesday, January 23. We have reserved lanes in the VIB Lounge that will provide a fun and unique experience with boutique still cosmic bowling, upscale seating, and high-definition jumbotrons.
Each student that attends will play one hour of bowling (with shoe rental), play one game of Laser Tag, get a $10 GAMEcard, 2 slices of pizza, soda and a voucher for a Free Activity on their next visit for $21.95 per student.
We will meet at Andy B's at 6 p.m and anticipate being done around 8:00 p.m. Transportation is
provided to this event.
to attend Andy B's.
January 30 - Skyzone
On Wednesday, January 30, we will meet at Skyzone at 5:00 p.m. to allow students to jump from from the time they arrive until 7:00 p.m., when Sky Zone closes for the evening. Wednesdays at Sky Zone are WOW Wednesday and for $14 participants can jump from the time they arrive until close. We are asking each student that plans on jumping to purchase their ticket directly from Sky Zone. To ensure that the jump times do not sell out, you can purchase your tickets ahead of time
All students under 18 that will be jumping need to have a waiver completed by their parents in this calendar year. Please go
to complete the Sky Zone waiver. Sky socks are required for all participants. If your student(s) already has some, please make sure they bring them. If your student(s) needs to purchase Sky socks they are $2.00 plus tax and are reusable.
Transportation is NOT provided to this event. Students can be dropped off at Sky Zone at 5:00 p.m. and need to be picked up at 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday Night Youth Dinners
As we are preparing the Wednesday night worship schedule for the spring semester, we are looking for parents to support our Wednesday ministry by volunteering to provide dinner. We are so appreciative of those who volunteer to provide dinner for Wednesday night worship. Many of our students come directly from extracurricular activities. After a busy day of school and activities, the students appreciate the meals that are waiting for them before we kick-off the evening.
It is helpful to drop off food at 5:45 p.m. at the gym entrance. We begin serving dinner at 5:50 p.m. Texting Tim or Jayne is great, because we send students down and help carry the food upstairs! Please plan to feed an average of 70 students/leaders.
We realize that thinking about preparing food for 70 people can seem intimidating and we do encourage parents to work together. If you are interested in helping prepare a meal and would like to pair up with another parent, but need some help connecting with another parent please let Jayne know. Below are the dates that we are looking for volunteers to provide dinner. Please email Jayne at email@example.com if you are interested in volunteering to provide a meal or if you have any questions.
Thank you for your support and generosity to the
Youth Ministries at Schweitzer!
We are excited to give all Schweitzer youth (and any friends) an opportunity to unplug from the chaos of their lives and take them on a weekend retreat to Discovery Ministries in Eminence, Missouri. At Discovery Ministries students can experience the adrenaline rush that comes from experiencing challenge while growing in their faith. The staff at Discovery Ministries will introduce our students to adventure while guiding them toward Jesus!
