This week's activities:
Weekend work (10/14-10/16): 7 am- 8 pm*
Continued street tree removal planned 10/15. The installation and striping of new ADA pedestrian ramps will also occur this weekend. New water line installation work will occur along Quarry Rd. This work will require traffic control measures. Access to the Emergency Room will be maintained at all times.
Weekday work (10/17-10/21): 7 am-8 pm*
Concrete barriers (K Rail) have been placed on the inboard side of Quarry Rd (between Welch and continuing up to the Quarry Extension near the turn to the Emergency Department) in order to facilitate ongoing utility work. This reduces Quarry to a two lane, two direction road during this time. Access will be maintained to the Emergency Department at all times.
Beginning at 6 pm on Tuesday, October 18, soft cones will go down on Welch Rd which will gradually change Welch into a one-lane, one-way road going West from Quarry to Pasteur Drive. The soft cone placement will take a few hours and the new traffic pattern will be in full effect beginning Wednesday, October 19th. This change will be in effect for two years. Please adjust your driving route accordingly. K Rail (concrete barriers) will replace the cones on November 7th.
Additional planned activities include continued survey and staking work along Quarry and Welch Roads as well as tree removal on-site. Fencing will continue to be installed in the landscape along the inboard side of Welch Rd.
Preparatory utility-related work will continue on Welch Rd and Quarry Rd. This work will require some traffic control measures. Please be cautious of steel plates in the street during this time. Access to the Emergency Room will be maintained at all times.
AMC bike lockers have been posted for relocation and are expected to be relocated by 11/7 in preparation for closing the Blake Wilbur Parking Lot.
*Note: In response to recent concerns over night noise from nearby residents, we requested and were granted special permission from the City of Palo Alto to alter our work hours in order to avoid overnight jackhammering activity. Our new hours of construction activity are Monday-Sunday from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm until November 23, 2011.
What to expect next weekend (10/21-10/23): 7 am-8 pm
