The Packard Children's Hospital expansion, which will expand Packard's ability to care for children and expectant mothers, is under way. The new 521,000 square foot facility will add 150 patient beds, more healing spaces, and the latest medical technology. The Packard expansion is scheduled to open in 2016.
This week's activities:
What to expect this weekend (11/23-11/24)
Hours of Construction Activity: 8 am to 6 pm
The Packard Children's Expansion contractor and design team will be performing investigatory work inside the hospital on Saturday, 11/23.
Rebar installation on basement slab #3 and excavation/off-haul will also take place.
No work is currently scheduled to occur on Sunday, 11/24.
Weekday work (11/25-11/29)
Hours of Construction Activity: 7 am to 6 pm
No work currently scheduled for Thursday (11/28) and Friday (11/29) due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Rebar installation, waterproofing, concrete formwork, and bench cutting work will continue on the Packard expansion site next week. All work is being closely coordinated with the hospital and is not anticipated to cause noise or vibration. The tower crane will be in use to install rebar columns and formwork.
Material deliveries will continue next week.
Spoils off haul will continue during the week as needed.
Access to the rear entrance of Packard Children's will remain open throughout construction although some egress detours will be in place.

Hours of Construction Activity: 8 am to 6 pm
No work is currently scheduled to occur next weekend.
