The Packard Children's Hospital expansion site prep (known as the 'Make-Ready' site) includes the demolition of 701 & 703 Welch and the construction of a shoring wall and utility tunnel in preparation for the Packard Children's expansion.
This week's activities:
What to expect this weekend (4/14-4/15)
Hours of Construction Activity: 7 am - 3:30 pm
Work will occur on Saturday, 4/14 to test the tie-backs on the Make-Ready site. Shoring work will also continue.
Weekday work (4/16-4/20) Hours of Construction Activity: 7 am - 5 pm
The steel bridge installation near the Day Hospital and Imaging has been delayed. This installation work should begin in the coming weeks.
Pending weather conditions, foundation work will continue for the new utility tunnel. This work includes installing rebar, pouring concrete and drilling piles. Excavation of the new Make-Ready site will continue. Note: this work requires extra shifts on the Make-Ready site (see above hours of activity).
Work to remove and off haul the top layers of soil from the site will also continue, pending weather conditions. As excavation work occurs, please be mindful of additional hauling trucks entering the road. The retrofit of the chilled water line in the tunnel will also continue next week.
Installation of shoring walls will continue on site.
Access to the rear entrance of Packard Children's will remain open throughout construction.
What to expect next weekend (4/21-4/22) Hours of Construction Activity: 7 am - 3:30 pm
Foundation work may continue for the new utility tunnel on Saturday 4/21. Soil will be off-hauled from the site, pending weather conditions. Utility work near the Falk Building will also continue near the SHC side of the building. Access to the Falk Building will be maintained at all times.
