The Packard Children's Hospital expansion, which will expand Packard's ability to care for children and expectant mothers, is under way. The new 521,000 square foot facility will add 150 patient beds, more healing spaces, and the latest medical technology. The Packard expansion is scheduled to open in 2016.
This week's activities:
What to expect this weekend (8/31-9/01)
Hours of Construction Activity: 6 am - 7 pm
Work will continue on the Packard expansion site over the weekend to perform shoring and bench cutting activities. A concrete pour for the columns and wall of the new hospital facility may continue on Saturday, 8/31.
Dirt will continue to be off hauled from the site on Saturday.
Weekday work (9/03-9/06)
Hours of Construction Activity: 6 am - 7 pm
No work is currently scheduled to occur on the Packard expansion site on Labor Day, 9/2.
Shoring, excavation, rebar installation, auger cast pile installation and bench cutting work will continue on the Packard expansion site next week. All drilling work is being closely coordinated with the hospital and is not anticipated to cause noise or vibration. Tower crane will be in use installing rebar columns.
Dirt off haul will continue.
Access to the rear entrance of Packard Children's will remain open throughout construction although some egress detours will be in place.
What to expect next weekend (9/07-9/08)
Hours of Construction Activity: 6 am - 7 pm
Shoring, excavation, bench cutting and soil off haul will continue on the Packard expansion site on Saturday, 9/7, and Sunday, 9/8.
All drilling work is being closely coordinated with the hospital and is not anticipated to cause noise or vibration.
