After a week of using lure stick to go through poles, trying to angle for a lead, Lendl was still not able to just go on her own...turn to team AMC

Senior Display Designer Behn made some samples using stock material and Lendl thrived running (sometimes walking) through the course. He then made a few more variations before settling on what we now will offer to sell so others can have fun with their dogs and get quick results.

How weave guides work

• Physical Barrier: Guide wires act as a physical barrier, preventing the dog from weaving incorrectly or skipping poles.
• Visual Aid: They provide a clear visual cue for the dog to follow, demonstrating the correct weaving pattern.
• Gradual Fading: As the dog becomes more confident and proficient, the guides can be slowly raised or removed, allowing the dog to weave independently.

Step-by-step guide

1. Set up the Weave Poles: Place the weave poles at the appropriate spacing (typically 22 or 24 inches for competitions).
2. Attach the Weave Guides: Securely attach the guide wires or other weave guides to the poles, forming a channel or V-shaped pattern.
3. Introduce the Dog: Lead your dog through the channel created by the guides, using a leash and treats or toys as encouragement.
4. Reward and Reinforce: Reward your dog enthusiastically when they successfully navigate the weave poles with the guides in place.
5. Gradually Reduce Reliance on Guides: As the dog shows confidence, slowly raise the guides or remove them one at a time, ensuring the dog maintains the correct pattern.
6. Practice and Build Speed: Once your dog can weave accurately without the guides, practice with increased speed and introduce variations in entry and exit angles.
