Dear SUMS Families,

November is a beautiful time in our preschool as we focus on gratitude, kindness, and community. Our children are learning what it means to have thankful hearts—recognizing blessings big and small and showing appreciation to God, family, teachers, and friends. In the classroom, we are exploring themes of family, friendship, and thankfulness through stories, songs, and conversations that help children understand how gratitude and kindness can shine through their actions every day.

This month, we are also celebrating Veterans Day by learning about the importance of honoring those who serve our country. Please join us on November 10th for our Veterans Day Chapel.

Our school will be closed for Thanksgiving Break from November 24th-28th as we pause to rest and spend time with loved ones. During this season, we are also collecting non-perishable food items for families in need. Your generosity helps teach our children the joy of giving and reminds us that even the smallest hands can make a big difference.

We are so thankful for the joy and energy your children bring to our classrooms each day. Their laughter, curiosity, and love remind us daily of the blessings we share as a school family. May your month be filled with peace, gratitude, and sweet family moments as we celebrate Thanksgiving together in spirit.

With gratitude and blessings,

Lia Page, Director

Suntree United Methodist School

🦃 Thanksgiving Facts & Fun

  • Turkeys can’t fly very far! Wild turkeys can fly short distances, but most farm turkeys can’t.
  • We show thankfulness in many ways. Saying kind words, sharing, or helping someone are all ways to give thanks.
  • Story Time: Read Thanksgiving books like “Bear Says Thanks” by Karma Wilson or “Thanks for Thanksgiving” by Julie Markes.
  • Family Thankful Walk Take a short walk outside. Each person names one thing they see that they’re thankful for — sunshine, trees, family, pets, etc.
  • Mini Pumpkin Pies or Muffins Let children help mix and decorate their own little treats.

Music with Ms. Becky

Music with Ms. Becky is always a highlight of the week at Suntree United Methodist School! Each class is filled with joyful singing, playful movement, and hands-on exploration with instruments. Through songs, rhythm games, and creative activities, the children are learning to express themselves, listen carefully, and work together as a musical team.

Ms. Becky helps our students discover the beauty of music while building confidence and coordination. Whether they’re keeping the beat with drums, marching to a melody, or learning new songs to share at home, the children are growing in both skill and spirit. Most importantly, they are reminded that music is one of God’s greatest gifts—bringing joy, connection, and love to all who hear it.
