September 2025

Happy Fall!

Dear Preschool Families,

We hope your September is off to a joyful start! It has been such a blessing to see your children settling into their classrooms, learning new routines, and building friendships. We’re grateful for the trust you place in us as we partner with you in nurturing your child’s growth—academically, socially, and spiritually.

Thank you for your patience and partnership as drop-off and pick-up routines settle into a smooth rhythm. Know that we are praying for your family each day, asking God to guide your child’s heart, mind, and spirit. Together, let’s celebrate every small step forward and every joyful moment of discovery this month.

Reminders

  • Send a labeled water bottle daily.
  • Check folders each day for notes & artwork.
  • Call or email if your child will be absent.

With gratitude and blessings,

🌟 Fun Facts & Tips 🌟

  • Did you know? Playing with playdough builds fine motor strength that later helps with handwriting.
  • Quick tip: Reading just 10 minutes a day with your child boosts vocabulary and early literacy skills.
  • Faith moment: At bedtime, try asking, “What made you smile today?” — it helps children practice gratitude and reflection.
  • Parent win: Packing a snack your child can easily open helps lunchtime go smoothly and builds independence.

Fire Drills

Did you know that our school has regular fire drills once a month? We will have our first fire drill in September, and they will continue throughout the year. Fire drills occur on different days of the week at different times of the day so that children who attend alternate days will have a chance to practice being safe. Families may also want to practice what to do in case of fire at home.

What is Fun Trail?

When you hear your child say, “I had Fun Trail today!” do you know what that is?

Children attend Fun Trail, a gross motor program, every Tuesday or Wednesday. Our large motor skill specialist sets up a different obstacle course for the children each week. Children have a terrific time at Fun Trail while developing many skills necessary for proper growth. Although the casual observer may see a child hitting a ball with a bat, pushing and pulling oneself on a belly board, jumping on a mini trampoline, or walking on a balance beam, our exercise specialist has a specific goal with each activity.

These are a few of the many purposes that our Fun Trail serves:

• Develops body awareness and body image

• Develops left and right brain development

• Develops eye-hand coordination

• Fosters pre-reading and pre-writing skills

• Develops gross and fine motor skills

• Offers visual and spatial processing skills

• Teaches following directions and cooperation

• Fosters emotional security and self-esteem

We are pleased to have Coach Sue Elliott return as our SUMS Fun Trail/PE teacher this year. She brings enthusiasm and love for physical fitness to our children and continues to be a great asset to our team!
