END TIMES APOSTASY
Apostasy means to turn away from the truth. One may have known the truth, and I am speaking of Bible truth, but has chosen to turn away from it. 2 Timothy has a lot to say about the end times and the apostasy that will occur.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 tells us about it. It reads, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: FROM SUCH TURN AWAY.”
Paul was warning Timothy, who was a young pastor, what was happening. Yes, there was apostasy then, but the key to these verses is in verse 1 where it says LAST DAYS. The signs of being in the “last day’s apostasy” is what this chapter in 2 Timothy is all about.
Each issue, [sinful condition] that is written in these three verses points to the days that we are living in. We are seeing all the signs before our eyes. That which is good is now called evil, and that which is evil is now called good. Much of the younger generation have been indoctrinated by an ungodly school curriculum that is full of humanism which places a person’s life as the center of the universe instead of God as the center.
Without a turning back to God and his word, there is not much hope for the future. Can things change? Yes, but only with true repentance and revival. Revival means to relight the fire that once was. Sadly, many have never received that fire which comes with salvation. When all we think about is the “me” without God in the equation, then we are deceived and living in apostasy. You cannot “revive” a fire that was never lit.
Let us be the ones that bring revival fire back into our homes, our church, our schools, and our cities. As the old song of the early 70’s said, “It only takes a spark to get a fire going.” [Pass it On by Kurt Kaiser ©1969] Let’s be that spark and thwart apostasy!
Let us be those Christian soldiers for Jesus that are willing to make for truth. If each of us does our part, we can make a difference.
Thanks for being with us!
