A NEW NAME

For the most part in the United States, if you are a woman and have ever been married, then you receive a new name. You give up your maiden name as a woman and take on the name of your husband. In my case, my name was changed to Sanders. This indicates that I have entered into a covenant of marriage to my husband Russell. I have forsaken all others for him. We are now one in unity as it says in Genesis 2:24, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

This is exactly what happened when we entered into covenant with Jesus Christ at salvation. We received a new name. We are now one in Christ and are now called Christians.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, it says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ [in covenant through salvation], he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.”

We were placed into the body of Christ at salvation to live victoriously through Christ. We have a new name and a new nature. His name has been given to us, and we have all power through that name. Never underestimate the power of that name. It opens blind eyes; calms storms; raises the dead; performs miracles; and more. Use that name because it belongs to you. The Father sees us as joint heirs with Christ [Romans 8:17]. What belongs to Him now belongs to us!

Never think again that you are just an old sinner saved by grace. You now are more than a conqueror through the name of Jesus!
