SUNY Upstate Hospital's Psychiatry Department is conducting a survey about the effect of the pandemic on teens. We have agreed to distribute this survey to our Upper School parents and ask that you consider allowing your child to participate. Please see the letter from the physicians below. Thank you!
Dear Parents of High School Students,

Our names are Drs. Meszaros, Kuch-Cecconi, and Ulberg and we are physicians from SUNY Upstate University Hospital. We are collaborating with a group of international researchers to examine the effects of COVID-19 on high school students in grades 9 through 12. SUNY Upstate has been selected as the only site in the United States to collect data and therefore participation from those in the surrounding area will hopefully allow us to better understand the impact of this pandemic on our youth. Additionally, from an educational standpoint, the results of the study could help identify areas for more targeted interventions for our students.

Participation would involve completing an online comprehensive questionnaire asking for demographic information in addition to questions about physical health, mental health, substance use, and social well-being. All information would be anonymous with no ability to identify specific participants. We are reaching out to local parents of 9th through 12th grade students in hopes that you may be interested in having your children complete this virtual questionnaire. More information about the study can be found by clicking on this link. Please feel free to email any of us if you have any questions, concerns, or if you would like more information.

If you allow your child to participate in this study, please forward him/her this e-mail with the link below.

Thank you for your time and consideration for this important matter.

Drs. Meszaros, Kuch-Cecconi, and Ulberg
