Kindness in our community and the world!
The definition of Kindness-the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.
The school community, the city of St. Louis Park and the neighboring community of Minneapolis need kindness right now and every day. We have many wonderful students that attend Susan Lindgren from Minneapolis, and we must continue to ensure that they are a part of our school community and are surrounded by kindness. The school team is doing many great things for our students, and will continue this positive momentum. Most importantly, we must share and model kindness wherever we go. I always share with our students that being kind does not cost a penny. It makes you feel good inside, as well as the person receiving it. We all need kindness in our lives!
You are important!
Ms.Sheila Stolusky shared this video with me, a few other colleagues and most importantly her students. The power behind our words! I really encourage you to watch this video with your children and have a real discussion about the feelings and noticings that come up for each of you. It is simple, powerful and beautiful. Thank you so much Ms. Stolusky for sharing the video with us!
Remember you are important and we all need to be kind to one another!
We could not do the wonderful things we do at our school without all of you and your never-ending support. We are a village and family for all of our 433 learners!
Your Proud Partner in Learning,
Clarence Pollock

Susan Lindgren School Community requests no Valentine's
Store Bought or Handmade Valentine's.
On Valentine's Day our school community does not exchange cards or have classroom celebrations . Please do not purchase or make cards for your child to pass out at school to their classmates. We know that each family may have their own traditions connected to this day at home, but at school we do not. We encourage you to use the new School Directory as a way to connect with your child's classmates, if you choose. As always, we value friendships and caring for each other every day. Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Family Drop off and Pick Up Process
|
|
The snow and the cold make parent pick up and drop off a more interesting time of the day. You are one of over 200 cars that are trying to get their child to school on time or get somewhere right after school. Please pull all the way forward especially when directed by staff so that we can accommodate as many vehicles as possible. Please set your cell phone aside and pay attention to traffic. When you get to the 4 way stop at Quentin and 41st, have your child put on their mask, coat, etc so they are ready to hop out when you arrive at school. There is no parking across the street. Thank you!

COVID Tests Available for Students and Staff
|
|
Additional rapid-result COVID antigen tests have been ordered and are now available at sites. Tests can be requested at the front office of a student’s school or staff’s primary work location. The newest test that has become available is the BD Veritor nasal swab test. One test kit (containing two tests) may be requested at a time. BD Veritor tests are app enabled and require a smartphone and internet connection. An alternative test option will be supplied to families that do not have access to a smartphone and internet connection.
Students that are not enrolled in St. Louis Park Public schools such as siblings, relatives, children of staff, will need to request a test from their school/school district or leverage other testing resources. Relatives of staff will also need to leverage local testing resources. More information on community testing options are listed below. Please contact Flower Krutina, krutina.flower@slpschools.org, with questions.
What is the BD Veritor antigen rapid test?
The BD Veritor nasal swab at-home test is a rapid antigen test that can be used by anyone over the age of two. Each kit includes two tests per box. In order to take the test, you are required to download the Scanwell Health App on an iPhone, Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel smartphone. The app will guide you through the testing process and will take about 20 minutes to complete.

Cold Weather ~ Outdoor Clothing Reminder
|
|
Please remember students go outside for recess every day! Make sure they have outdoor clothing. Label all clothing.
Students will always go outside unless the regular temperature is below 0 degrees or the windchill temperature is -10 degrees or below. We will watch the temperature to keep our students safe.
We are always in need of gently used or new winter gear, especially waterproof mittens/gloves.
