Mr. Pollock's Reflection

It has been wonderful to see the smiles and laughter fill our halls and classrooms. The entire Susan Lindgren Team puts our students needs first, as we plan our lessons, activities and learning adventures. The teachers have been working collaboratively to be the best we can be for our student scholars. I am extremely proud of this team and our outstanding learners for such a wonderful start to the school year.

Thank you for your support, as we start the new "SL Respects" building wide expectations, as well as our new cell phone procedures, to continue high expectations while keeping everyone safe and healthy.

Wear Your Words Wednesdays - Honoring Ms. Kim Carden

With the death of Kim Carden, our beloved friend, colleague, mentor and amazing educator, our school team wants to continue to honor her by "Wear Your Words Wednesday!"   Ms. Carden loved literacy, books, writing and words, and over the years brought it to life in her Kindergarten classroom.

Our school team will be wearing shirts with words and many with positive messages on them, to honor Ms. Carden. We encourage all students to join us in wearing shirts with words on them each and every Wednesday. Let's continue to share the love in our school! We love you Kim and miss you so much!

Student and Family Main Entrance Bulletin Board Activity

We would like to invite a student, a group of students or a family to decorate the bulletin boards in the Main Entrance. If it is a student or a group of students, we ask that there be an adult with them and they can work on it after school. The bulletin board will stay up for 1 month. Please email Mr. Pollock if you are interested. pollock.clarence@slpschools.org  We want to honor student voice and choice along with families! Susan Lindgren is a school for all!

* Two Families have signed up for October and November.

Let's get some more!

Please see below the beautiful September bulletin board made in collaboration with Henry McDonald, Arthur Aanenson (Charlie & Oliver's younger brother) and Heather McDonald. Thank you it is wonderful!

Kim Carden Memorial in the Susan Lindgren Garden

Thank you to all who donated over $1,500 to raise money for a memorial honoring Kim Carden, a beloved Kindergarten teacher who passed away in December 2021. Kim had many wide and deep connections in the Susan Lindgren community she loved so much. If you haven't yet, consider helping us reach our estimated goal of $2,000 to raise funds for two benches and a tree in Kim's memory, so that other teachers can take a break or bring students to read books in the garden.  If you would like, please donate on the Susan Lindgren website by Sunday, September 18. Contact Julia Boaz with interest in joining the memorial fundraising committee, or email susanlindgren@gmail.com with any questions.
