Schoolyard Garden Updates
Over the last week we've been seed starting with Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade classes. They've learned what plants need, plant parts, and the 2nd graders have learned how to read information on a seed packet. Mr. deNeui's 3rd grade class came to learn about the different plant parts that we eat and how each plant part functions.
We've planted cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers, squash, cucamelon, and lots and lots of flowers for pollinators! Some seeds that were planted last week have already germinated. In total, the students have planted approximately 350 seeds. So exciting!
We will be starting sessions outside in the garden on May 1. The garden team will be there with classes on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00am - 11:00am. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Patty Harayda at patty.harayda@gmail.com. Feel free to come for your student's class or longer. No garden knowledge necessary!
Happy planting!
Your garden team -
Patty Harayda, Hana Blissett, Charlotte Tuttle, Sarah Lindsay

Final PTO Meeting Recap
Parents had a lot of great questions for Principal Pollock and Arsenio during their presentation around ‘Big Emotions’. A big thank you to both of them for their time Tuesday night, as well as their compassion and commitment to supporting students every day.
The PTO also shared updates to the board structure, board transitions, and open board positions. You can read more details in the PTO Meeting Slides on the PTO website; Meeting Minutes will be posted and shared in the coming weeks.
A few of the highlights include:
-
Sarah Scott, 1st grade parent, has been approved as the new Co-Chair, starting summer of 2024
-
Heather McDonald, 3rd grade parent, will continue as Co-Chair for a 3rd year (creating a new, rotating cycle of having a 2nd year Co-Chair with a 1st year Co-Chair)
-
Mark Goetz, Kindergarten parent, has been approved as the next Vice President, starting summer of 2024
-
Meghan Aanenson, 4th grade parent, will complete her two-year Co-Chair role during the summer of 2024
