The Advocate - May 2020
GOING DIGITAL:
SUMMIT VICTIM ASSISTANCE ACADEMY
The Essentials of Victim Advocacy
Virtual Classroom
June 1 - 5, 2020
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (EST)

Join us online for this session of The Essentials of Victim Advocacy! We are please to share that we've developed a 100% digital curriculum to ensure the safety of our training team and our class participants, complete with a virtual classroom and recorded sessions.

Each student will receive an Essentials Student Home Care Box, equipped with everything you will need for the week!

Even though we've gone completely virtual, the same expert training team will teach you the tools needed to provide crisis intervention to individuals who have experienced trauma.

Enhance your skills with group practice role-play sessions with trained coaches. You will receive individual coaching and feedback to ensure that you are comfortable translating the knowledge learned during this session into practical applications!

Note: Participants are encouraged to register prior to May 25th to ensure that the Essentials Student Home Care Box arrives prior to the first day of the session.
Summit Victim Assistance Academy
Did you know that, in addition to going digital for this next session of The Essentials, our Summit Victim Assistance Academy has created a brand new YouTube Channel? This new channel is a place for professionals to enhance their knowledge about supporting victims of crime and trauma while working remotely. As victim service agencies are adapting to social distancing, so are we. Our Summit Victim Assistance Academy in-class trainings have been paused….but that isn’t stopping us! Now more than ever we need to help others adjust their skills and administrative practices to ensure victims are receiving the best care possible.

Our Academy and expert training staff stand apart from other training institutes. Please subscribe to stay abreast of our weekly uploaded videos, presented by actual staff who continue to provide direct service 24/7/365 during these trying times. If you have a suggestion about a training topic, send us a message and we’ll see what we can do.
VAP SERVICES ARE ALWAYS AVAILABLE!

MENTAL HEALTH MONTH
Did you know that May is Mental Health Month?

This year's theme is:
#Tools2Thrive!
#Tools2Thrive explores practical tools that everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase resiliency. It is often the small changes that we make to our daily routines that make the biggest impact on our mental health.

The #Tools2Thrive toolkit covers topics like:
  • Owning your feelings
  • Finding the positive
  • Connecting with others
  • Eliminating toxic influences
  • Creating healthy routines

MAY IS NATIONAL NURSES MONTH
