SVCC Golf News

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope everyone is shoveled and plowed out after the last big snowstorm. The 2021 season is slowly coming and will be here before you know it. I just wanted to reach out and touch base to keep everyone updated with what is going on at the club.
I have a rough draft of the 2021 schedule done so everyone can have an idea of when certain outings are and what to expect for the golf season. Susquehanna Valley Country Club will also have a team participate in the GAP Team Match Play for the upcoming 2021 season. There is more information about GAP matches below in this email. We still have lesson packages and gift certificates available for the Christmas season if you need any last-minute Christmas gift ideas.
Also, for those that have not heard, I will be returning as the Head Golf Professional for the 2021 season. I am extremely excited for the season to start and cannot wait for a great year at SVCC!

GAP Matches

Susquehanna Valley Country Club will be participating in the 2021 BMW Team Match Play series this year where our team will engage in interclub competition. The GAP team match play is very competitive and is run by the Golf Association of Philadelphia (GAP). We will have one team this year as the team must have 12 players play each week. Six players will play at home (Susquehanna Valley CC) and the other six will play away at the host course. The are three matches and the match dates are listed below:

2021 GAP Team Match Schedule
Sunday, April 18th (Week 1)
Sunday, April 25th (Week 2)
Sunday, May 2nd (Week 3)
Saturday, May 8th (Playoff / Challenge Match)

Players shall compete in a singles match and a four-ball match concurrently. Example: In a group where player A and player B represent a club and player C and Player D represent the opposing club, player A will play against player C in a singles match and player B will play against player D in a singles match. There is also a four-ball match of player A and player B against player C and player D.

Below you will find two links that will provide you with more information about the GAP Team Match Play series. The first link is the GAP Team Match Play homepage and the second link is the rules and regulations page and what to expect on the day of the matches.

About GAP Matches
As of right now I have only talked to a couple of the members to see if they are interested in playing. We can have more than 12 players sign up because not everyone will be able to make all three weeks. Once we get a list of players, we will have one person be the captain and they will sit with me and we will make the line ups for each week. We will try to pair the teams up based off the other team's player’s handicap. As of right now the following members are interested in playing:
Shawn Felty
Ryan Felty
Doug Wilburn
Once the golf course opens on March 1st, I will have a meeting with everyone signed up to go over all the rules and regulations. I must let GAP know by January 4th if we are going to have enough for one team. If we get a lot of members interested in playing, we can have another team participate but I figured since this is the first year, we will go with just one team. If you would like to sign up for the GAP Team Match Play series or would like more information please reach out to me on my cell phone or by email
