Curt Arthur to Lead Chamber of Commerce
|
|
We are excited to announce that SVN's Managing Director and Principal Broker, Curt Arthur, SIOR is scheduled to become the next Salem Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors President July 1, 2017. The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce represents over 1,200 area businesses who employ more than 58,000 Oregonians in the Mid-Willamette Valley.
Arthur has served on this Board of Directors since 2013 and becomes just the second father-son duo to serve in this capacity. Curt's father Bob Arthur served as the
Chamber
President in 1969-70.
Curt said, "I have vivid memories as a kid of my dad being President of the
Chamber
and it's always been in the back of my mind that if the right opportunity presented itself, I would be proud to also serve in that role."
"The
Chamber
of Commerce is simply Pro-Salem", Curt added. "No other organization provides the type of community support that they do to insure that Salem is positioned to be a great place to live, work and thrive. The Chamber is looked at as the conduit to insure great things continue to take place in Salem and my role is to insure we remain poised and ready for that challenge".

Herbert Returns from SIOR & CCIM Conventions
|
|
Greg Herbert, CCIM, SIOR, is the Managing Broker and Senior Advisor in our SVN Eugene office. Greg is the only Oregon Realtor that attended the national conference for both Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). The CCIM Conference was held in Atlanta and the SIOR World Conferences were in New York and New Orleans. Greg said, "Great opportunities were available when I attended the recent CCIM Atlanta Conference, and both the SIOR New York and New Orleans World Conferences." He went on to explain that as we see the manufacturing, service and office world change, new concepts, capital and development have changed drastically. As the e-commerce becomes a substantial part of the economic picture, including robotics, new and different services offered to the new millenniums who predominate the workforce, and communication and collaboration as it produces ever changing requirements in the workplace. Logistics and delivery concepts would seem to be the new name of the game. These meetings provide a great way to earn, learn, and return.

Oregon Realtors Led in D.C. by SVN's Grabenhorst
|
|
The mission of the Oregon Association of Realtors (OAR) is to stand up for private property rights and homeownership in Oregon. George Grabenhorst, SVN Senior Advisor and OAR President says, "They achieve their mission by advocating for legislation and candidates that align with our priorities. This year, we are laser-focused on working together with our members and state officials to protect tax benefits for homeowners, fight new schemes to tax homes, and ensure our land use system works for all Oregonians."
"We took our mission to Washington DC in May. OAR leadership traipsed the halls of Congress delivering that message to our entire Congressional delegation from Oregon. The Mid-Year Legislative meetings in Washington DC are held every year in May when REALTOR® leaders from all the world converge on DC…and Capitol Hill certainly takes notice!" George proudly added.
